As an A380 freak, the final nail in the coffin was the introduction of ETOPS certified planes. Frankly, I don't understand how Airbus thought that the A380 would succeed. The original 777 was ETOPS certified long before the A380's first flight. If Airbus also offered a freight version of the A380, like Boeing do with the 747-8, then I'm almost certain that the A380 program would have been a success. Obviously, the pandemic doesn't help. But as of right now, it's not too late for Airbus to introduce a freighter version of the A380.

It is more useful to pay attention to the engine. When the first 777 came out in 94, the engine available was 77k lbf, supporting the 200 model. a few years later a 93/98K lbf engine was available, capable of supporting either a extended range version of 200, or a longer body in the 300. Later, an even higher thrust engine at 115k lbf, came out to support the 300 ER.

I've flown the Boeing 777-300ER several times, it's such a beautiful plane. My most memorable/best experience was an almost 16-hour flight from Toronto to Taipei on EVA Air a few years ago.

I’m. Lucky to have experienced the b777, 787 and a380,330,320,350 and out of all of those I was the most comfortable in a350 but the pure sensation and power that you first feel when the first take off clearance is given is phenomenal on the 777 and I would much rather compensate my comfort to the roaring beauty of the 777(ge90 variant not the Trent. 8000

As a doe-hard 777 fan, I do consider these two seemingly similar variants one generation apart. The 300ER imo is one of the all-time-greats in the commercial aviation industry. Very well-designed around it's purpose with incredible efficiency and reliability. No excessively fancy technology out there, but she has utilized mature technologies to their maximum.

It strikes me that adding four metres to the wingspan of a model is a much more significant alteration to type than “merely “ inserting plugs before and aft the wing to stretch an airplane. I’m going to assume that the larger wing is 1. More efficient in terms of fuel burn, and 2. Capable of storing more fuel.

I might be wrong here but I think the difference in wingspan resides in the added raked wingtips. So yes, more fuel-efficient but I don't think there is any fuel stored that far out.

I think they utilised extra fuel tanks else where in the plane rather than enlarge the wing tanks.

Longer wings provide better lift for the added weight and reduces the fuel burn, which also helps to extend the range, however it sometimes limits the aircraft maneuverability in some airports and which gates they would be allowed to use. That's why the 777X has foldable wings, to fit in gates and taxiways that would otherwise not accommodate its massive wings.

The larger wing of the -300ER also includes the raked wingtips (later incorporated into the 787), which the -300 does not have. The -300ER also contains further aerodynamic improvements not mentioned in the video.

I love the 777-300ER with Air France and Air Canada, both very nice. Air Canada use the 777 to fly domestic too so I get to fly it alot to Montreal and Vancouver from Toronto!

Quick guide to tell both apart externally: If it has Trent 800s or PW4000s, it's a -300 for sure If it has raked wingtips, it's a -300ER for sure

I’ve only flown on AA’s 777-200 twice in MCE/PE and loved it. My trips to Europe on the -300 were to be in business class and all cancelled due to C-19. So that sucked.

Gorgeous jets, but I still greatly miss the Olympic, TWA, and PAN AM Boeing 707's that my family used to fly nonstop to Greece in, from JFK in NYC! Of course they flew faster than the current more efficient commercial jets, and could do the NYC to Athens route in about 8 hours! I can still hear and feel those 707's spooling up for takeoff as a kid/teen sitting by the window!

My favourite airline for flying the B777-ER is EVA Air between LHR and BKK, which I have done many times since 2006. Their economy cabin is fairly comfortable and their cabin crew are fantastic. At the moment there is obviously no service but I look forward to its return in maybe late 2021.

It makes sense for emirates to have the -200 ER/LR and the -300 ER versions considering they can fly to virtually any major city in any continent. They can use the -200 LR for flights to Auckland when flights open up since the a380 won’t get filled up. The ER variants can easily fly nonstop to the US.

The main differences are the engines, the centre fuel tank, the raked wing tips and the main landing gear forward strut. The flight decks are pretty much identical. One other common thing about the aircraft is how it is easy to fly, even over short sectors (

I believe the -300ER variant gets its extra wingspan from its raked wingtips, making the aircraft more fuel efficient and giving the aircraft more lift.

Also worth noting the differences in propulsion. The 777-300 uses smaller turbofans by Rolls-Royce and Pratt & Whitney versus the mighty GE90 used on the 777-300er variant.

The raked wingtips, perfect length, large but well-proportioned engines, and sharp tail fin are what make the -300ER my favourite 777 variant. I even think the -300ER looks better than the new -9 and -8, especially when viewed from the top or from the front, as the new 777s tend to look too chubby with the older fuselage combined with the thick new wing and plump new engines.

The raked wingtips allowed for better aerodynamics, and the GE90-115B engines provided more thrust and better fuel burn over larger periods of time. The plane was also lighter compared to the -300, by removing unecessary items from the construction of the plane, they saved over 300kg of weight

The 777-300ER was designed as a direct replacement for the 747 _Classic_ models. But it became not only a 747-100/200 replacement, but also replaced the 747-400 on many long routes. That's why even British Airways and United Airlines bought the plane.

Airbus 319,320,330,340,350..Hoping to fly theA380 after the pandemic..Most of my trips are long haul flights, flying with B777-300ER planes of Emirates, Cathay, Qatar, Thai and KLM..Im here in Abidjan with minimum flight time of 30 hours to the Philippines.

you really cant make this comparison without taking about the extraordinary GE90...above all the variant wich powered the 300ER...the trust is significantly different...it is too a way to reconize the 777-300ER by his huge air intake. take care.

The 777-300ER is also used for short-medium haul routes too. Air. Newzealand uses them from Sydney or Melbourne to Aukland and Dubai to Muscat on Emirates.

So far my only Boeing 777 (-200ER) flight has been on Austrian Airlines between ORD & VIE. Despite being seated over the wings near the 737 sized engines, I was still able to get some good sleep.

You forgot to mention that 777-300 uses only Rolls Royce Trent 800 and PW4000 engines while the ER variant uses exclusively GE-90-94 and GE-90-114 engines.

The 777-300ER uses only GE90-115B. No ge90-94 or anything weaker than -115.

I like the 787 flown them countless times from Europe to the U.S very quiet, smooth and the lighting is great as well.

One thing not mentioned is that, at the same range, the 777-300ER can carry significantly more cargo than the standard -300. In many cases this more than makes up for the higher cost of the longer range version.

The 777-300 has worse mtow than even the 777-200lr since it's a 777-200er stretch

My best memory of B777 is on ANA's new business class "The Room", still remember the smell of the new B77W (JA796A), and ANA's service quality is amazing. Except for airlines, the GE90-115B roar is my favourite so that's why I prefer the ER model. Love Love B777!!!

Mee too, I also love ANA since is the cleanest airline. And of course, it have my favorite planes the 777, 787, a380. ( I love all planes for be honest) Can wait to try them in the future and when they have the new 777x🤩

My favourite airline to operate the 777-300ER was Virgin Australia, however, since the airline has withdrawn the 777s and A330-243s from the fleet due to Covid, i would have to say that my favourite 777 operator is now Air New Zealand.

the 777-300er range was supposed to have a 2-3-2 configuration or 3-3-2 if I remember, but thanks that airlines don't see economy just no important( except Jal), it is not that good at al.
