I grew up having school shooting drills, and I never understood why they made us do it. I always thought, "Shouldn't you be protecting me? You're the adult. I don't know what to do, especially if we are outside." It used to scare me so much. They would have us hide in the coat room if we were in our room. The students by the windows were always told to make sure the window was shut and locked to pull down the blinds. we all had to go to our coat room and be quiet while the teacher was responsible for locking the door and turning off the light, but they never would tell us what to do if we were outside, in the gym, at lunch, or at the library (none of which had doors that you could lock or have anything that you could hide under/behind) and that scared me a lot.
