Catholic here, and it is about grace. Goesfastandfar is not far off. The Catholic Church has never taught that we can be saved by works. The speaker’s analogy is misplaced as representative of Catholicism. We don’t work our way to heaven. That said, works definitely matter. Please don’t hold me to this but I believe scripture speaks about good deeds/works being accounted for at death some 10+ x’s? To me its only fitting in justice that in our bad deed, the vise of sin, we must repent. So too, in virtue of holiness, good deeds are required by the denial of self in action for love of God and neighbor. God knows our heart and our walk with Him. As a fellow addicted myself, I have been where you are and I know it is a very difficult time and thing to go through. By the Grace of God I have been able to stay away from it for 15 yrs. Now, the only thing that kept me from going back in those first few days, weeks and months was to realize that nothing good will come from using. It will give you instant gratification but at what cost? My advice is to reach out to your new found Christian friends your mentioned or any close friends that understand your situation and are willing to help you avoid relapse. Read the Bible! Now! The only thing that helps me defeat the devil whispering in my ear is the Sword of the spirit aka the word of God! Ephesians 6:13-17 James 4:7 “Resist the devil and he will flee”! (I repeat this verse over and over out loud!) 1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” These are my go to verses when I am being spiritually attacked or tempted by evil thoughts. Keep on the narrow path friend!

Just pray, It will help for sure. Take a 30 minutes every day and be persistent, focus on the prayer and be humble in the prayer. Also that might help is to think what would Jesus do in that situation. He is the way, truth and life. God bless.

You are saved by God through your faith in him. If you do your drug of choice again you are forgiven. Being that you are “struggling” with sin is already positive. You know it is wrong. The question is how to now stop. It’s hard - super hard! Pray on God as I will now for you as well, and if you feel as though you are succumbing to the desire to give in, I would call on your Christian friends instantly to pray for you. I would also make the decision go get as far away from the drug. Throw it our, break it, run away from it, whatever it takes for it to not be near. There’s a rule in nutrition coaching, that whatever is in the pantry will eventually be eaten. So do not let the drug “be in the pantry”. I hope this helps

Sin isn't minor infractions but the consequences of unrighteousness. You wouldn't wouldn't consider murder, harm, stealing, lying , manipulating and rape to be minor infractions of anyone would you especially if they're done to you or someone you care about.

Sin is literally anything that is outside of, or opposed to, the nature and character of God Himself. God is literally the *source* of all that is "good" or wholesome. In one of His parables, Jesus compared Hell to Gehenna, the garbage dump outside of Jerusalem that was constantly on fire. Those who cannot accept Him, and His holy nature, are sent to the only place where He is not present. To force those who reject Him, and who cannot abide holiness, to remain in His presence for eternity would be unjust and cruel. Much of the actual suffering of those in Hell is simply a result of turning away from the source of all that is actually good (God). If the only thing left for them is ashes, that is not God's fault! He did, after all, pay for a way back to Him, should they not refuse it!

Evolution requires life to already exist in order to take any effect in living organisms so it doesn't account for the existence of Life and reality. Also evolution is impossible because it goes against The Law of entropy and the second Law of thermodynamics because evolution makes things better whereas nothing continues to get better but decays and turns to absolute destruction in the end. Mark Ridley an Evolutionist said "No evolutionist whether gradualist or punctuationist uses the fossil record as evidence in favor of The Theory of Darwinian Evolution as opposed to special Creation". God's Existence is made perfectly known and observable in the universe as demonstrated in His Handiwork in the intelligently designed manner that Creation was made, human consciences and consciousness historical and archaeological evidence of God's Word being valid history, fulfillment of Bible Prophecies God in His Holiness and Righteousness could give us what we deserve in Hell for our since but He's merciful to give us free will to choose to accept or reject His gift of salvation by grace through faith in His Son Jesus. @@justingary5322 If you do think it has to do with the point that I was presenting, there's an easy way for you to demonstrate this. All you have to do is restate the point that you think that I'm trying to make with my original comment, then correlate that novella that you wrote as it directly relates to what you perceived my original comment to be intending. And this will show if that whole novella that you wrote had nothing to do with what I actually said. If I was to predict the outcome of that I'm going to imagine that you actually didn't understand the point that was actually being made. And that most of what you said had actually nothing to do with my point and it was merely you trying to proselytize.

As a person brought up in Catholic Faith, I can say there is an identity to it, which makes one feel like they belong somewhere. More so than the other denominations. My hold up was Mary, I could not imagine not having nightly prayers with her. LIke who am I to bother the big guy? One Good Friday, I was listening to a preacher and he prayed 'For those of us who need convicting, please convict us. At the moment I heard and saw the person of Christ and He said 'Free not, I am with you always' (Isaiah 40:10) I did not know that verse, but I do now. I changed that night. Its God, for sure, who changes a person's heart.

@KA-wu2kt I was raised catholic and went to catholic school for 5 years. I never once read the Bible as a catholic. My wife was protestant and I started going to her church and that's when I started reading the Bible and noticed many things the Bible said that were really different than what the catholic church taught. I definitely was a eye opener. I'm always going to believe scripture first over any tradition. God's word is not to be changed or compromised as it says in Revelation 22:18 19. I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll. If anyone adds anything to them God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life in the holy city.
