@@Marky2216 Not really - Messi overperformed on his xG. In his last season with Barca too - his xG was 13 and he scored 30. Valverde was too conservative so it was difficult for European comps...Xavi is also being the same in Europe although he relies on possession football well in the league often

Yeah that's the most crazy thing. The group was full of players who were subtitutes on their teams and mostly unknown. But when u have a good coach and Lionel Messi nothing can stop you

Yes he will he is the best coach in the world how?argentina was on a 36 game winning streak destroyed the european champions italy 3-0 undefeated from 2019 Yes they lost to saudi but they learned their lesson scaloni made changes to the team and they won the world cup the lineups and everything just could not be any better and mac allister enzo fernandez they performed well because scaloni made the lineups he got the best results from his boys scaloni is the real hero for argentina and he was as important as messi I am happy this man is getting the credit he deserves if he was argentina's coach in 2018 they would have done a lot better sad to see when a team like argentina which was a beast from 2010-2018 failed to win a single trophy if scaloni had been the coach in any of those 3 world cups it would been much better for argentina but thx to him argentina won their world cup and has a bright future I clearly see argentina,england and france dominate in the future

There are differences in coaching a team to club glory and for national success. I beleive he has done a tremendous job with Argentina and is one of the best national side coaches in the world. I am so happy he's still with our squad 💙💙🇦🇷🇦🇷

He thought Messi was a 10 before Messi actually became a 10 later on in his career... which won him the WC. Maradona was right to try and make Messi a 10, his only mistake was not building a team designed to work FOR Messi. He was still just a kid at the time so Maradona put experience and other selfish players around him which ended up backfiring in the hard matches. But the idea of playing Messi, a winger, as a 10 came from Maradona, not even Pep thought of that.

You want to know why hes good, he simply learns from his mistakes quickly, last world cup every tactical problem in a certain match get fixed the next game, if a player wasn't in form for example lautaro Martinez or acuna gets benched. He admits his mistakes that's why he's good

Scaloni has actually only lost 1 important match since his Argentina debut. That was 2019 vs Brazil in the Semi final of Copa America. Since then he never lost a important game . 42 games played since/1 loss (vs Arabia in group stage)

Sometimes, I really don't understand the mind of a number of Argentines. I can guarantee that when Maradona said that, a myriad of them agreed with him and didn't respect Scaloni. Probably they forgot that how their football god let Argentina crashed by Germany with 0-4 score, resulting in that Argentina finished its 2010 World Cup journey at the quarterfinal match.

@@duran9664 2010 was not normal, though. In 1990 we lost by one goal. In 2014 we lost by one goal. In 2006 it was a draw and penalties (after they injured Abbondanzieri). They won, sure, but they never humiliated us except for that one time with Maradona in charge.

Have in mind that by that time Scaloni never directed a team before, no one believe in him not for the words of Maradona, but because he was inexperienced. In 2019 copa américa he started to show some virtues even Argentina lost to Brazil in semi finals. But when he won the 2021 copa america all the country was behind him.

This is precisely the reasons Portugal (even with CR7, leao, felix and fernandez) never won the world cup or made it to the final let alone the semi finals of qatar 2022: they kept the same, boring coach with defencive tactics, even with the players I have mentioned, they took a gamble and tried something new, and henceforth, it worked.

Post retirement Maradona was arguably one of the people that caused the most harm to Argentina's national team, he never hesitated to criticize anyone or use his media influence to put pressure on players and coaches alike, even Messi. He was also the worst coach that team has ever had. People seem to forget that coaching a team is conceptually closer to playing a chess match than to actually playing football, as there's a lot of strategy, tactics, and logic involved. This means that a great coach needs to have their cognitive abilities in top shape, which is something Diego Maradona never had, not even when he was young. He was never a smart person, he never studied anything, and by the end of his career the amounts of drugs he had taken (both recreationally and prescribed by his doctors) had already wrecked whatever cognitive faculties he had left. The guy couldn't even get through a full sentence.

They won all games with 6 Goals, already more than 1990 whole Tournament Goals (i.e 5) The Last Game ( Final ), they were cooked. While 2014, ARG played good, and Messi was lively. Just the stain of not scoring 3 open goals remain. The 1990 Final is often cited as ugliest World Cup Finals, cited by Wikipedia. A journalist Ian Morrison after the Game ended said " At least the Tournament wasnt catastrophic that it didnt go to undeserving team on that Tournament."

he is like ferugsson changing players who plays for mid table team into monsters he was a unknown man from argentina and lots of people trolled him and doubted him he did a small msitake in wc final when france introduced turam and kulo muani he should change that defense to 3 back introducing lisandro to handle them they are too fast otemendi cant handle them alone even cuti romero also cant handle mbape turam and kulo at same time which resulted in first penalty if he used lisandro and 3 back after 58 minute then the result will be 2-0 for argentina and france will create a record for 0 shots on target in wc final and mbape as offical ghost

I'm from INDIA,2002 I was 12 i asked my dad for an argentina jersey he said let them be champion first! Dad a huge argentina and Maradona fan passed away in 2009 Feb! I never wore an albicilestes jersey till 2022 18th December. Now I have almost 18 jersey for me and him!!! And they are all no. 10 Maradona for him and MESSI for me. Maradona was a great, top 3 player of all time but he was an absolute WASTE as a manager. He wasted the 2010 World Cup with his lack of tactics and direction, so he had no room to talk. What Scaloni did is what has been needed for over 30 years for the National Team. The last team was the 2014 team that was close to this in cohesion

Sabella didn’t had the complete midfield in 2014 and Messi had to be the only creative outlet and hence they suffered through each of the knockout matches playing extra time. But Scaloni brought in the right midfield talents at the right time and relieved Messi from being the only midfield playmaker and hence why they won it. This is a prime example of how you manage with what you have. Sabella almost did it but was unlucky while Scaloni is what Sabella could have done with a proper midfield

He's not the best nor a world-class coach, but what makes him special is he has several Plan Bs, Cs and so on that looks effective despite the risk. He has a vision that can identify the odds of the game plan. His tactic is so unpredictable and yet so effective on his team.

Don't say his CV was empty at the begining. You literally start talking about he working in AFA from way before. Also, he was a succesful player winning a distinguishable amount of trophies in not just one but multiple european teams. If you didn't know until now, that's your problem. Maradona thought only legends could coach Argentina to world champions. That's false: you need people that work hard. Almost all argentinians know that from life experience. This is not too accurate. He was not seen as the coach to qatar until copa america 2021. Prior to that he was always a temporal coach, he was hired for two matches and a lot of events, including covid make him arrive to copa america 2021, the rest is history.

Messi for far long since taking the captaincy of his national team was constantly being pressured. And Maradona was one of these critics. What Scaloni did so well is to ease the pressures surrounding Messi and the team and build great chemistry around experienced and young players while Messi still being the main orchestrator on the pitch
