If Stevie starts riding again that would be insane. Him and Sean make a come back by really forging their own lane? That would be epic.

Im guessing thats the plan, which would be rad for both as Stevie is a machine and Im sure just like Vic could just hop back. on his bike and probably at least do a 540 bunnyhop/flyout. I never felt like Sean fell off, he just didn't like how certain things were in the main bmx scene and now is making even more moves on his own. I wonder if Bob from Fiend/ex-Staff is helping with the frames and stuff??

1:05:00 yes absolutely, Vans bike did sell for in fact 15k cash located in Pawtucket RI just a little over a month ago. It was 1 of 2 schwin mean street proto type frames, and in fact it was the frame that did the iconic whip over the legendary Kona gap. It was my buddy Andrew’s bike, took a little over a year to source all the parts. Some dude from NY came and picked it up!! It was the wildest BMX sell I’ve ever seen!!

Someone needs to do the spillway roll in to loop at Pipa Grande..... Garret Byrnes already did the first part.. Also the front foot forward pedal/crank arm grind on a flat ledge if you know how to do regular pedal grinds front foot forward legless, its the EASIEST grind in the world especially down a like hubba. Please don't call it a girl grind, its just a pedal/crank arm grind. Trey Jones said it also the twitch 180 out, way easier than a regular front foot pedal grind to even regular 180 let alone hardway. I can personally back this statement up as its way less scary to hop on a ledge onto your pedal/crank while your rear peg drags as you automatically get locked in all you have to do is aim hop and apply pressure. I just think it looks terrible on flat ledges and same with fast plant 180s I used to do that stuff and NO ONE would film it, if playing a game of BIKE Even if I did a manual to fast plant 180 or even the rare manual fast plant 360 which I have pulled, Tom White is my witness haha. But back in like 2001/02 these moves got you made fun of by your friends at least outside of Philly here in Ridley, and now I just think its funny that its a "Trendy" move. As long as your having fun doing it IDC but just imo I would never film one on a regular flat ledge. But its bmx so do whatever the hell you want but I bet that Lewis Mills Vans Kit is going to be their highest selling stuff ever by the looks of these instagram videos Im guessing he's the next like dude to get even his clothing style ripped off by others. Now as a teen I was guilty of this from still wearing brown dickies because of Scerbo to back in high school starting to shop at thrift stores after Garret Byrnes bought a hoodie for a quarter that just looked sick whilst he was filming his Props Bio back in the day but I jocked the Thrift Store button ups and the 3/4 sleeve shirts all day. So I get it.

To make the point, we could compare the visual media portion of BMX (the video parts) to art in painting or film to make sense of why it matters. It’s easy to appreciate the skill put into hyperrealistic paintings but there is also skill in the deliberation and intention of those people doing the things. Creativity is part of what distinguishes BMX and skating from traditional sports. We’re not just jocks on bikes but also artists when we are performing for an audience through video parts etc. If it was just about skill, we should be able to say that it doesn’t matter how you edit your videos, what clothes you wear, what your bike looks like or rides like, or what spot your riding because as long as you muscle through very scary and difficult moves which progress the sport in a very obvious way, then we’ve done our job. But we can’t honestly say this. To the point of being a “pro”, this is awarded to literally anyone who can sell product. Albeit, most of the time this means there is a level of skill because that’s what people want to watch. But this can also happen, and has happened, for people who are simply likeable and popular, and can sell products, (Adam LZ or Austin Augie). Both AMAZING bike riders, but their being popular content creators had an influence in their being pro with signature products.

The only critique I have about this podcast is not including enough park riding content. I’m not saying there’s none at all because there totally is but it just seems like their is a favoritism towards street and video parts which is sick but personally, park riding is more appealing to me and I truly believe that BMX Park riding is at an all time high for progression and deserves more recognition, especially with it being an official Olympic sport. Nevertheless, a great podcast that I always look forward to listening too after I get done with work or riding 🙌🏼 hope this is taken with a grain of salt and not looked at as me trying to degrade or talk down on street riding because it is actually insane and honestly really hard to ride IRL at least for me. Keep making great episodes 🙌🏼🔥🤘🏻🚲

FTL is a jack it was originally a northern UK thing maybe not a brand but loads of BMX house guys had the tattoo I've still got the rideuk mag circa '06/07/08. It stood for ForTheLads. As in send it for the lads. Follow the leader is pretty gay imo. Just saying. BMX is freestyle there really are no leaders.. Not when you're with your friends. Enarson, Reynolds & Williams are obvs leaders but I wouldn't apply that logic to the like of Austin vlogy or Billy Perry. Glad I'm not a kid anymore. Just a ball of salt!
@OurBMX
@OurBMX 2 ай бұрын
Ball of salt indeed, hah! I'm pretty sure Follow The Leader came from when you're cruising through the streets with your dudes and sort of chasing after who was in front. I've never thought of it as some sort of subservient, "I am the leader" reference. As for the ForTheLads, if they're not still doing it and it's been years, what's the issue? I don't think Billy has ever claimed to be the first person to use the acronym 'FTL."

@@OurBMX "what means to be a pro in today's age ?" would be a great discussion/pod ... Rooftop perspective on that would have been heard differently if he had time to argue more his point. Having him on the phone was nice but i guess kinda of awkward too (sounded like narrow minded view on yumi's riding). The jib "trend" has come from skateboard before, it's fun to watch, it's relatable for kids, it bring some kind of fashion into the equation...and that takes attention on social media...Rooftop is a legend, i totally respect his accomplishment, loved his riding, his passion...but instagram has changed the game like xgames has change the game at his time. Being a pro on the midschool era can't be compared to today's age...or to when bmx was eddie fiola dressed in full yellow jersey. "beeing pro" is a concept, not a title, if you just read into it, professionnal means living out of your profession...So a bmx youtuber can be pro, a 50 years old guy doing demos in mall can be pro, a olympic rider paid by his federation (+ energy drinks) can be pro, a highly respect legend passed his prime can still be a pro without even producing much, a girl can be a pro now (i hope), and a charismatic rider with good follow on instagram can be pro...Because i am afraid that beeing pro means most of the time being paid by a company to ride a bike, so if a company sees more potential of sales (sales is the purpose of a company right ? not only but you know) in a rider's image of their choice, you can't blame the rider, and not even the company, it's just the way sponsorship work...So is there levels to beeing a pro, i guess there is and that's why i have infinite respect to big video part makers...and that's why i think this conversation could get some interest from all generations. Bringing different type of riders (age, disciplines) around this topic/table could be a thing.
