This is why being a goalkeeper is the hardest and mental breaking spot on the field… all it takes is 1 bad game for people to crush you… not knowing that that ball had to pass through 10 other players to get passed 1 goalkeeper.

Yeah, costa rica have many old players, well they are not old, but in football terms, they don't have a lot of young prospect. Mayority of the team in Costa Rica, are past their prime except Keylor Navas. In europe, european teams don't play with central american players.

Goalies might sometimes dish out their best performance and follow it up with a horrid one. In keeping, it not always 1+1=2. You need a LOT of things and a lot of luck to sway proceedings your way.

Anyways he would have not been a regular starter in real madrid. My guy is a world class keeper who plays for world class clubs and is always replaced by other world class keepers.

1 bad game only. Such a great performance against Germany and what a save against Fullkrug even though he conceded 4 goals. It would have been a slaughterhouse if he wasn't in goal.

People seem to forget or don't actually know how hard being a goalkeeper actually is.. If his defenders are constantly getting torn apart forcing Navas in to 1v1's, most of the time he's probably not going to be able to save it, and they want to get rid of their star player because of that?. Sure he could of done a bit better for sure, but come on, its not entirely his fault.

When you are a Concacaf player your biggest enemy is your passport, at the beginning, Navas was far better than Donnaruma and I bet he still is, some other coach after Donnaruma's horrible mistakes against Real Madrid would have benched him, but the Italian passport sells more to the brands than a Costa Rican one, same this happened in Real Madrid with De Gea and Courtois

Overrated, at Brazil they faced powerful squads only on paper, Uruguay was World Champion in prehistoric times, 92 and 72 years ago. Italy and England both were eliminated in the group phase, they both fielded their worst teams in many a year plus the Amazonian climate did them in. . Italy took 9 shots only 1 under the sticks. Both teams scored only 2 goals in 3 games played. Navas strong suit is his agility, that's not enough, he can't play outside the box, not sufficiently strong hands/ wrists can't catch balls, only deflect His aerial performance a nightmare, deficient foot play, his goal kicks lack in accuracy. Collected plenty of silverware thanks to Real Madrid and CR7, any other keeper would have done the same playing for such a team..

@@IGG2002 he was at the end of his career. Ibra is far from his prime, he barely plays. Today he's basically a vice-coach. Everybody Is different, Modric is 37 and still plays while other people at 37 are retired
