On the 14th August 2018, two trained search dogs were taking into the Watts' home. One dog, a labrador, was a trauma dog. These dogs are trained to sniff out traumatic scenes based on the scent of particular people. The labrador alerted BIG TIME (to quote Officer Lines) in the basement, but also to a lesser extent upstairs, in particular in Bella's room. This indicates that a traumatic scene occurred in the baseness and also perhaps upstairs.
The second dog, a GSD, was a cadaver dog. Cadaver dogs are trained to alert at the scent of deceased bodies. The scent they are looking for is called cadaverine. It is foul smelling to us as humans, but dogs can sniff it out even if a body had long since been disposed of. Cadaverine is created when lysine, an amino acid (a constituent of protein) breaks down after death, but it also occurs naturally in small amounts the body fluids of living people, such as urine: en.wikipedia.o...
The cadaver dog did not alert in the basement and the handler concluded that no deceased bodies or body parts had been down there. Therefore, there was trauma, but in a living person, down in the Watts' basement.
Unfortunately, the cadaver dog ONLY searched the basement and garage, not the rest of the house. This is a failure of the police to thoroughly investigate. It would have taken the cadaver dog a few minutes to search upstairs, and perhaps find evidence that Shanann actually died upstairs.
These are details that you may think don't matter. But they do matter if we want to find out exactly what happened to Shanann, Bella, CeCe and Nico. Perhaps the truth has been hidden in plain sight all this time!
