I relate to the context of knowledge, study groups, speed dating, and the first day. I applied to a German uni for design but got rejected instantly even though my academic background was relevant and related to Max's points when the university conducted a pre-admission webinar session. Also, I have heard somewhere across the internet, not able to find the exact source, that the universities in the current moment intend to charge huge tuition fees per semester instead of subsidized fees due to dropout rates.

Even the best fits to a job role get rejected and same is here in applications process. Applications received at German universities are too huge that the best of best presented students ONLY get the seats. Good luck for your next try.

I have 8 years of experience in Germany and would like to share some insights about the challenges. 1. An MBA is not as valuable without proficiency in the German language. 2. High taxes (approximately 42%). 3. High competition is expected in 2024 and the upcoming years. I believe it will become as competitive as Canada. 4. High rent for accommodation and other expenses make it very hard to save money. 5. The language barrier is a big issue. 6. Slow internet. 7. Tasteless food. 8. Nowadays, it is very hard to gain admission to public universities, which are the only free option in Germany. 9. It's very challenging to pay your 2nd-year fees in Germany due to the high cost of living.

@nicolaberndt6232
@nicolaberndt6232 29 күн бұрын
1. The cost of living and rent very much depends on where you live in Germany in Berlin for instance it's really expensive. 2. The highest tax bracket is 43%. Taxation in Germany is a more complicated topic and most people who read this comment won't even pay nearly that much. (The taxes are not linearly going up with you earning more.) 3. The food may be tasteless depending on where you are from for example if you're from Vietnam it's most definitely not tasteless but if you're from Thailand the food will be tasteless for you.

Yes, Oldenburg is a nice place to study. Braunschweig is a traditional TU, affordable and it got the tradition to rent the empty" nests" to students . Got it? Northern Germans are not that keen to get much money from students. Very different to places like Munich.

If you earn 100.000€ as a single person, tax class 1, the highest tax class, you pay 27% tax! A couple less than 20%. If you earn 100.000 € you can have a really comfortable life,... . Don't worry. Im europäischen Vergleich liegt Deutschland mit seinem Spitzensteuersatz von 42 % im unteren Mittelfeld. If you earn 277.826 €, you may reach the mentioned peak tax! ;-)

Hi Max, I'm an American student who's fluent in German (spoke it my whole life with my family), and applying to universities there next year. The only reason I'm debating between American college and German university is the fact that I don't know any scientific or mathematic vocabulary in German, only the conversational, literature, and every-day stuff. When it comes to stem stuff, the field I want to study, I know absolutely no words. What do you recommend I do about this and what should I consider?

i am a german university student, studying right now as an exchangestudent in japan. it's crazy how different these 2 systems are. I mean I study not so complicated stuff. here in japan, international studies and back in germany sociology and japanology as my major. The work load for these kind of subjects is doable. One question, what do you mean with drop out. usually it's very difficult to drop out at least where I study, rather it's only if you fail exams multiple times. Most people I feel like just quit, because they had different expectations. It is weird to explain. Money can also be a reason, one study comrade sadly quit also because of his second degree subject.

Thank you so much for all the valuable support. I have a question: Should I use an agency to apply for an Ausbildung in Germany or should I apply on my own? I am currently on a tight budget and taking German language classes at an agency. The program at this agency takes a year to complete, and I am currently at A1 level. I am thinking about enrolling in an accelerated training program at another center, which would allow me to finish in 6 months. However, if I choose the accelerated program, the first agency wouldn't apply for the Ausbildung on my behalf. In that case, I would have to apply on my own. I am really unsure about what the best decision would be ?

They tried to introduce the Anglo-Saxon System, but it failed. Except the stingy Swabians , all returned to free Education. :-)

Even wealthy parents leave their bright kids at public schools and public universities. The most prestigious German Unis are public Unis. You can't really boast to be a guy from a private school. It is called Quetsche! Translate it yourself please. It was quite usual that you have a costudent from a wealthy family who has to live in conditions like working class students because the parents wanted it the way. A costudent got the Bafög- Satz from his father. :-)

Germany is literally the backup plan for us because we consider the universities there so easy. Kind of funny.
