Just watched this for some reassurance, and that's just what you delivered! I held out strong last night and did not feed my 1 yr old until he woke up in the morning, and it was decidedly an awful night. We're going to do it again tonight and I'm scared but determined!

Very very helpful. Third child. Third none sleeper. My youngest is 6m. Almost 6m. He hasn't slept all night yet and his brothers didn't start sleeping til they were in full time school at 4yo. I'm determined to do this this time! We are in a two bedroom house so baby is in with me and hubby. Currently in the next to me crib however he never goes in. He sleeps next to me without covers and pillows. Just ordered him a cot so that'll arrive in 6days ish. He sleeps next to me and is fed to sleep then he latches on alllll night. I enjoy it yet I'm exhausted. 6 all nighters I've just done in a row. HELLLLLP XX

My 4 month old literally sleep maybe 15 min then wakes up, shuffles to nurse(he sleeps next to me) eats for 4 min then goes to sleep this happens every 30-40 min. He eats less during the day because he does take some good naps in the morning.

My son is 8 months old and wakes up often. When I don't give him his milk, he doesn't go to sleep at all. Last night he was awake for 3 hours before I gave him his bottle again. I can't break the cicle. I don't have the energy.

I have been looking for a solution to this issue for months now. My son is six months today and I know I need to break this habit. I love him and I want what’s best for us so that I too have energy to be the best I can for him but this is impossible for as long as I breastfeed him while co-sleeping. Your video makes so much sense and I am really wondering how you don’t have more reviews and comments. Will share your video with my friend mums. Thanks for your advice!

Hi I am co sleeping with my 5 months as well and he wakes up every 2 hours at night to breastfeed. Whoami has your baby been able to stay asleep without needing to breastfeed while still co sleeping? Thanks
@thatslena
@thatslena 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I moved him in his own room 4 months ago. I'm afraid he still wakes up to breastfeed 3-4 times a night. It's hard and I'm tired. If I have 1 word of advice it is to take sleep training seriously as 5 months old is still young. My boy is now 11 months old and it is only getting harder..but we will persist. Don't give up!

Hey girl, how did you manage to let your babe to fall asleep without breastfeeding?
@thatslena
@thatslena Жыл бұрын
@@Innessofficial hi, first of all, I moved him to his own room so he could not smell me. Then, I would breast feed him and made sure I'd not try not to wake him up as I placed him in bed (I wasn't super gentle or careful as I put him down) - you need to ensure he/she is not asleep so they realise that the breast is not the only thing that can put them to sleep and they need to calm themselves down somehow else. If he cried (which he did in the beginning) I'd rub his back and sush him then take him up and try to calm him any way I could other than the breast. If he wouldn't calm down, I'd breastfeed again and try the same. It also helped a lot when my hurband got involved because my son realised he couldn't always have breast. It is difficult as they do protect when this change happens but eventually, they learn that they can't have it all the time. Hope this helps.

@@leenaparsons9876 to be honest, I stopped following this advice. It did not feel right to get my baby to be that distressed just for me to be more comfortable. She’ll stop feeding to sleep eventually all by herself without any screaming so I’ve succumbed to that.

@@strwbrryfinchy I'm trying to be that way but my mother in law that I live with says I'm causaing my daughter to be emotionally dependent on me when that's not the case. Why would I force such a change for everyone else's sake? I know she'll grow out of it and I'm patient with her but everyone wants me to start working and I don't know how to deal with it.

@@emilyhoward8734 you know what’s best for your baby and for you, no one else. If trying other people’s tips and tricks doesn’t work well or doesn’t feel good to you, you have the power to move to techniques that do work for you even if that means breastfeeding all night and bed sharing. Your baby is allowed to be emotionally dependant on you, they are a baby! They’re not capable of being self-sufficient in most ways. Eventually all children learn to sleep alone, regardless of what technique is implemented. Sorry I get a bit worked up about this! You’re doing a great job hun, your MIL can keep her opinions to herself.

What do I do when the comfort feeding has now turned into genuine hunger because she’s been feeding at night so much. I sometimes struggle to get her to take good feeds during the the day. Should I try to night wean first and then come back to this video?
@sleepnanny
@sleepnanny 3 жыл бұрын
It will take a gradual shift to move the calories she is in boarding at night into the daytime. I’d suggest a reduction in night feeding and offering a nice big feed first thing in the morning. Then feed upon waking from any daytime naps and another big feed before bedtime. Shouldn’t take more than 4-5 days to turn this around x

How can you be consistent in this method when the baby sometimes does not get enough food before it goes to bed? Naturally the reason for it to wake up and cry will be hunger? Lets say the baby refuse to get fed properly before it goes to bed 2-3 out of 10 days?

3+ hours and hunger may strike but if it’s taking that long, something isn’t quite right with the approach and i would be looking carefully at what is happening and how you are soothing and responding to uncover why.

I used to take 3 hours to put my baby down after nursing to sleep. There is definitely something wrong with that approach. Eventually started co sleeping and nursing, hoping it would make it better. It did not. I am going to try these tips. My daughter is super dependent on me for sleep. I need her to go to sleep on her own because she wakes up too many times during the night and screams when she is off the breast. Thank you.

this is full of misleading information! babies eat during the night till 12 month at least. in addition, breastfeeding is more then food- its supposed to be comforting and gives the baby a safe place when he hasn't gain yet the ability of self soothing, and it a survival need!

This video was incredibly helpful for me. My son is 15 months and has nursed to sleep since he was born. He won't take a bottle, a pacifier, or a lovey. He only wants the breast. I can't be a pacifier all night every 2-3 hrs anymore, at some point a mother's mental health can be affected by this situation. Finding a new way to comfort your baby is not bad advice. I needed this video, because the sheer dependency on me as a pacifier all night is making me wish to cease nursing entirely. I know that if we can find other ways to soothe, nursing can continue through toddlerhood.

Why is it wrong to feed when baby wakes later in the night? Maybe the first few awakenings in the night are comfort, but the later wakening is hunger.
