Due to our construction schedule, we are several months past the time when I normally plant the garden. I thought that I'd share how we are dealing with the late start--including some specific crop varieties and other creative ways to make good use of your garden space, if you can't plant until mid-summer. Hope it's helpful!

Thank you. I’m losing my allotment space this year. And had to contend with a lot of health issues across the family. So, like you, I’ve had to chop and change a lot of my plans. Finally got the last two tomatoes in yesterday. I’m having to guerrilla garden into someone else’s immaculate “English Garden”. Dotting my veggies in amongst the herbaceous borders. Next year, hopefully, I might be able to rent space in a weed patch next door. If not, I will have to continue as I am for a few years. So your tips in this video are helpful. I’m apparently in zone 9(a).

Years like these are the hardest, but I also think that they’re the ones where we learn the most, because we let go of the way we think that we “should” do everything, and learn to experiment.

Great content. There is always something to do in the garden even if you think its too late. I’m so glad you are sharing this. As a side note I have found “New Organic Gardener” by Elliot Coleman and “Growing under Cover” by Nikki Jabbour helpful regarding season extension. I’m going to try some of your tips as I am also in the midst of construction and getting behind.

Thanks-and I love both of those books! You’d probably also enjoy Nikki Jabbour’s “The Year Round Vegetable Gardener.” That was my first introduction to her as an author. Good luck with the construction!
