@@DavidLion I really like when you told him to look at your eye as if he's looking two feet behind you. When I copied just that, it felt as if I was on my way to trance already. Also, your playful enthusiasm & offer of giving him 'something' seemed to buy him into your ideas even before he really understood what he wanted; he just wanted the happy you were presenting. I'm going to use those concepts even in my therapy work.

Every induction works for different people better or worse. So if you were unable to be hypnotized, for example, you wouldn't be able to daydream, forget where you put something for a minute, be able to laugh or cry during a movie that is "acted" and you'd remember exactly when and how you fell asleep. So yeah, as long as stuff like the above happens to someone (which happens to 99% of humanity, I imagine) and as long as you have a good imagination or imagination at all (there are disorders, iirc, where one can't see stuff in their head or imagine things, afaik), you're good to go ;) Maybe see if David has some online hypnosis videos (like Zach Pincince) or try this one: instagram.com/p/B_dfWBojtRg/ Was very effective for me (the most effective yet). In any case, it can't hurt to keep trying and stay true to what you believe still, wether you change your mind or not and keep checking out David, ofc, if you want ;)

I'm no David Lion, but I can say for sure, yes. Rapport is even more important in that situation & with a new subject & no real way to calibrate, I imagine it would be quite a challenge.

Experience

The "hypnotists" claim that they can't force people do things they don't want to do. To me that sounds like the "volunteers" agree to or want to do what they are told to do. This is acting. They basically say that but with more words to trick people into buying their $500 or $1000 courses on "hypnosis". And if they can't find willing actors it's no problem to pay them $20 or something for 10 minutes of acting. That's nothing in comparison to the thousands of dollars they make from naive people that believe this scam. In short, it's an act and a scam. Don't waste your time on this or at least don't give them any money.

@@originaldarkpoetry9503 I know that this is two months old, but think of it like wrestling. There is a physics behind every move that's made. You can calculate how every lever is going to move your opponent, and you can come up with theories that will work to best to pin your opponent... And yet, theory will not make you a great wrestler. You need to PRACTICE, and get really freaking good at actually performing the different levers and responding to how your opponent moves. Hypnosis has science behind it in the same way that wrestling does. There are laws that govern how it works... Applying those laws is quite challenging, and requires a large amount of skill. If the hypnotherapists you worked with weren't terribly skilled, it's going to feel like hypnosis doesn't work... And yet if Milton Erickson were to sit you down and talk with you for an hour, he'd have you completely zoned through the floor as he performs psychological surgery on you.

Nope. I know people who have had this done and they weren't actors. They were my classmates in school.
