What To Do With An Old Horsebox -- Part Two, Rebuilding To Make A Carriage Transporter.

Recycling a 30-year-old Rice horsebox, to make a home-made transport trailer for our new four-wheeled carriage.
The axles were still good from the original horse box -- but that was about it. We had to make a whole new chassis frame and fit it out so it's safe on the road. It took longer than we'd thought!
We hope to be able offer the carriage for weddings and other functions -- and now we can take it farther than the local town.

You may need a way to put up the carriage tongue or extend the transporter tongue. Just a few refinements after the magic you've already done. Great Work and very clever.

Jeffrey Plum You're right Jeffrey - in fact the tongue (pole) just unclips and is not a problem. It's just easier to control the carriage with it still connected, so I take it off once it's up on top. Thanks for your thoughts and idea - keep them coming!

I was just thinking. if you hitched the trailer to your Forecart, you'd have a Horse drawn Horse carriage transporter! I thought the idea worth a grin, at least. :)

Our boys are wondering what you mean about happy couples? Is to hire for weddings asked Nathanael. Will the carriages draw bar hit the back of the vehicle or was that an optical illusion based on the angle it was videoed from? Nice job. Racing Red looks very sporty. You can weld better than me..LoL. Thanks for sharing this. Cheers, David

Good question from Nathanael - yes, we hope to give rides to people who are getting married. We will make the carriage look pretty with flowers and try to clean the mud off the horses first. The draw bar (or pole) comes off easily. I should have done that for the video, shouldn't I? Cheers! Tim

if the car was a horse then the trailer would be a carriage which is used to carry a carriage i believe u said to use for weddings. a marriage carrige carryied on a carrige. soory mate my sense of humour i love to play with words. i love it when people dint get it but then it dawns on them.
