I use leftover cream cheese instead of cream in my cooking. Or mix it with some green onion/chives and radish and spread it on a slice of bread.

*Thanks for sharing your option. The chive and radish sounds good. If I used green onions, I would have to blanch them. I love onions, but I can’t like them raw; cooked only. *Long ago someone shared with me a recipe for a yummy cream cheese spread. Simply add chopped walnuts, and chopped black/ripe olives to cream cheese. It’s great on the “pumpernickel”😋, or rye party breads. Easy finger food for a party. Good on other snack breads, crackers &/or veggies of your choice… “ anytime”.😋

Oh man, I always store it for long periods in the packaging in the fridge for over a month. As long as there is no mold, it’s absolutely fine.

I love all your ideas..my mother in law loved to cook also and she would make this shrimp ball recipe 1pkg of cream cheese 1 can of shrimp drained a few shakes of tobasco sauce mix really well and for a ball and roll it in chopped walnuts..and enjoy..ummmm

@@lindasivilich528 it sure is delicious..i firgot to say u let the crean cheese warm up on plate and use a fork to mush it down and then you mush and mix in the cocktail canned shrimp and add shakes of tobasco sause and then taste it on crackers..some people like it hot spicy but i just like a little tang..and roll it in chopped walnuts and surround it with crackers and watch how fast your guests will eat it up

Cream cheese does last long. I put it in a container with a piece of paper towel to absorb moisture, it lasts longer . But usually just put it on toast or pancakes with jam. It's like poor man's cheesecake!

I freeze mine. Seal it in an airtight bag or container first.

I freeze mine. If it's unopened no need to put it in another container. Been doing it all my life. It will be slightly watery when thawed so not the best for bagels or something but fine for recipes. Except I always buy fresh for cheesecake.

Added note if use beyond expire date you maybe assuming full liability for the use of the cream cheese. E.g. if you get ill from eating after the expire date. Expiration dates are a product liability end date. Unless there is an agreement with the manufacturer to extend the expire date. I would not go 30 days beyond the expire date for dairy products.

All I know is ours is gone long before expiration date. I’ve NEVER had to worry about storing it. I know I’m bad There’s just something sooo delicious about it. It calls my name from the fridge. …and I can’t ignore it. Hahaha hahaha hahaha. My guilty pleasure😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋😋

Miss Pam, I have a question about frozen cream cheese. I buy it on sale in bulk and have been freezing it, unopened, box and all, in freezer bags with the air pushed out. Thawed cream cheese has a more crumbly texture, but is still great for cooking. I froze some near its expiration, and it's been frozen about 4 months. Do you know how long it should last in the freezer?

About all that cheese I'm aging in my very cold, high humidity fridge... I've got cream cheese that's 14 MONTHS past it's expiry date. Tastes just fine 🤗 But - thanks for tip on how to store opened package correctly!

How quickly? Place it in cold water or for the quickest, I put it on the defrost setting in my microwave. 😊

@@Luna_Kobold aaawww it may be. We have both. The kind in the video is referred to as block cream cheese and the one in the plastic container is whipped cream cheese. The block is much firmer and must be left out to soften for like making frosting etc. Just goes to show how the same ingredients can be so different in different places. Thanks so much again ❤️
