So I tested this recipe out for myself. And made the tofu balls which were great! I used 1/2 package of tofu and 1.5 cups of flour, and a pinch of salt. She starts with 3/4 cup of flour but my dough was still pretty sticky so I kept adding more until it wasn’t. I cut it up into 2 positions. Rolled each portion out and cut it up evenly, then rolled it to form balls. I covered the balls in oil. Then: 3-4 tbsp nutritional yeast. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp black pepper. 1/2tsp garlic powder. 1 tsp paprika. 1 tsp basil. But you could probably use any seasoning you want. Air fried at 350 for 20-30 minutes flipping halfway.

I personally hate the taste of tofu aswell, but have 8+ recipes I can't live without. For me I noticed that if you use a LOT of spices and herb powders, the taste dissapears more easily then when you marinate it with a sauce (atleast for me). One of my favourite sandwiches in the world is now some bread, with some basical pesto on the top and bottom, topped with some spinach, shredded carrot, pan baked tofu and sour Iranian pickles. All I do is cut the tofu into slices, bake it in some oil and throw a HUGE amount of garlic powder on it, another huge amount of onion powder, some salt and some pepper. There also is a youtuber called ''Fitgreenmind'' who shares many tofu recipes, and her ''vegan doner'' is really nice :)! I love it with some sour iranian pickles aswell. Ofcourse you can also just not eat Tofu, but for me atleast using powdered spices made the biggest difference. I've tried some populair ''crispy tofu baked'' recipes with coating them with flour and such, and everytime the tofu taste overpowers it, so I stayed away from tofu for ages. There is 1 sauce based tofu recipe (that also uses a lot of herbs) that I was scared to try and now is my favourite (decently unhealthy) tofu recipe ever, and I would recommend to try if you like a flavour bomb that hides the tofu taste! It's in a video made by the youtuber Gaz Oakley, called "20 Minute Simple Meals, I Eat ALL The Time". Personally it makes my IBS flair up so I don't eat it often haha, but its just amazing. And if you do wanna try tofu, I have heard that many people who hate the texture of tofu, like to freeze the tofu in the freezer and then thaw it out. It genuinely does change the texture and makes it chewier and more like meat, many can only eat their tofu that way. It's also often recommended in recipes to replicate meatiness.

Ok I saved this video a few weeks ago. The plan was to try this out and report back. We'll, I'm back because this is a complete game changer. My husband can't have grains, and only a miniscule amount of fat in his diet. I mixed tofu with cassava flour and played around with seasoning. Because the cassava doesn't behave the same way as regular flour, I found the gnocchi needed to be a little thinner, and they were still kind of gummy inside. But the outside is very much like bread, and it seems no matter how long you cook them, you can not overcook them. They just don't overcook, except to burn on the outside. I tried boiling some and then pan frying after. That was more gummy but they were larger and the outside still crisped up nicely. I baked some, and they ended up hollow and very much bready. Would be really nice broken in half on soup, or even injected with a filling. I rolled some into thin sticks and pan fried and those were like those long thin breadsticks you get at Italian restaurants. Very nice. I also have a tortilla press. I used two sheets of parchment paper, with the dough between. This was fantastic. You peel the top sheet off, smack it into the pan and peel the other sheet off. Again nearly impossible to overcook. If you leave them on long enough, they form a large air bubble in the center, exactly like pita bread. You can cut them open and stuff them. Plus they don't break at all! I then tried to go even thinner using parchment and a rolling pin, and this was by far the best. Difficult to get it just right, but once you do it's heaven. Again they will not tear or break on you. I've tried sweetening some, and although the cassava doesn't lend itself as well to that, I fully believe that can be tweaked. I plan to roll them super thin, as large as my pan, and make crepes! EDIT: Ok the crepes turned out FANTASTIC. Also, I discovered that if you roll them impossibly thin, like nearly transparent, and then bake, you have the BEST crackers ever. Seriously. I started with my tortilla press to get a relatively thin disc, and then transferred that to a large piece of parchment. I used another sheet on top and rolled as thin as I could get. I took the top paper off, and scored it into squares, then put the whole parchment into the oven. I baked until they started to have a nicely uniform browned color, and removed. Don't eat until they've cooled, though, or they won't be crispy. I made that batch with garlic and thyme in the dough. They were divine, and a single box of grain free crackers is literally 7 bucks, but these come out to less than a dollar. So you can build on my mistakes: the biggest issue I had with the crackers (and also the crepes) was that when I rolled the parchment, the bottom piece under the dough sorta rippled. I need to find a way to keep that smooth, and it might just be to spend more time rolling gently. I was a little aggressive with it, and I think that may be why. Could also be the parchment and the moisture, so I have thought maybe I can use wax paper on the bottom and parchment on the top, roll, flip, then remove the wax paper and bake normally. I have to play around with it still. Anyway, again, this is the best idea in the world, and you should try it.
