I'm two weeks post op and I increased protein and am still using Miralax 2x a day to keep things as regular as possible. Couldn't have been an easier procedure and recovery for me specifically so I am so thankful.

Thank you Melanie, your channel is awesome. I am going to have hysterectomy and needed solid professional (nutritionist) advice. So glad found your channel. One thing I want to ask is that after my c-sections I always requested beef broth. It just makes me "wake-up" from my stressed state and gives me a good boost. Would you recommend beef broth?

So glad I found you online, as someone who trains on a regular basis I was so worried about how to go about this afterward and what to do leading up to my surgery. Two weeks to go and your videos have been inspirational. What would you recommend to replace whey protein - I have a dairy intolerance which is not helpful! Thank you for sharing your journey.

Hi. Any vegan protein will do - the main thing is that you are keeping your protein levels high. I'm not sure if you managed to find the "part 1" or not so I'll paste it here: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNJxorqd1ti1oKc.htmlsi=breqR64SGw-FR6jR I hope your surgery goes well.

G’day from South Australia 🇦🇺! I have an ankle surgery coming up next for a non union fibula fracture, that is a 7month old break that has not healed. I’m 53, post menopausal, and I do have fatty liver and chronic inflammation but have recently gotten serious about sorting myself out. Thanks for this info, it’s given me a good general idea of how to approach this surgery in a weeks time, knowing I’ll be laying down a lot post op, and need the bone to heal with its new plate & screws 🤦‍♀️, considering it hasn’t healed in 7 months. Post op I’ll be addressing the inflammation factor first and foremost, which is quite possibly why it never healed. Hopefully it’s not too late to reverse some damage... Again, thank you from Down Under 🐨🐨🐨🇦🇺🇦🇺

Thanks for this video! I have uterine fibroids, so I have to eat smaller meals because it's pressing on my stomach like I'm pregnant. Got some low sugar whey protein to have protein shakes between my meals. Going to make some spinach egg cups for my meals this week. Idk how long I'm from surgery because they are waiting on results. I'll watch this again when I know for sure.

Thank you for helping ease my mind. Had my pre-op exam 10 days before surgery and was reviewing the surgical packet last night, which mentions low fiber. This never came up in the appointment, which I brought my hubby to for a 2nd set of ears. So now surgery is on Wed, glad to have some basic tips from you that are in English, from someone who had a successful surgery. I thought maybe this dumb clear diets were b/c of location and new for the year. Wanting to minimize post-anesthesia issues for people who don't know how they respond to anesthesia isn't fair to my best medical outcome. Women are kindergartener's now too, eh? I've had a dozen surgeries and I'm going to feed my body based on best outcomes, not based on coaching to the lowest common denominator of patients. Sure, I'd love to call my surgeon and ask. Do I have reasonable access to them in this post covid medical hellscape where KZfaq has been reliably supportive? Nope! Also, I think all American ob-gyn patients should know that medical foundations in Australia are now world leaders for lots of related care. The passed National Health laws in Australia to help bring women's related ob-gyn related care/surgery to better resources, medical care and surgery. One resource on KZfaq is EndoActive. I'm having a nearly total hysterectomy with the stipulation that any ovary taken requires the presence of a visible, significant problem. I had to learn from a lot of digging that instant menopause for women who aren't even perimenaupausal has too many risks, that are worse for my current medical problems - cognitive deficits from long-term undiagnosed, untreated b12 pernicious anemia. I'm sooooo glad I found your channel in early March when I was setup for surgery!

@@daisy78mx I'm doing great! Thank you for asking. Tomorrow is week 2 for me and I have to keep reminding myself I just had surgery. I heard from other women I would feel relief instantly, but I didn't believe it. The pain I've been experiencing the last 5 years made my hysterecomy feel like a walk in the park. Still taking it easy but feeling real good.

THIS VIDEO IS SO HELPFUL! I am been searching for this exact info online! THANK YOU. I am going to follow this to a T. May I ask, how many days before surgery do you suggest we stop eating raw veggies (aka like salads and carrot sticks) how about juiced (not blended) greens...you think that is safe? or no no too..... Good to know to perhaps drop the intermittent fasting a few days before surgery
@MelanieDurette
@MelanieDurette 5 ай бұрын
I would stop at least a couple days before to make sure everything is moving through smoothly! Juicing makes food much easier to digest so that's probably less of an issue. Hope your surgery goes well. xo

I'm also a fitness pro. I eat whole grains fruits veggies for my carbs. Sweet potatoes sometimes. I never eat white carbs. I have constipation issues so I've been trying to increase my fiber. My surgery is in 11 days. I'm very tiny. Only 4'9" 88-90lbs. Not sure what my fiber intake should be? I'm so small. I just don't want to be uncomfortable. Surgery is uncomfortable enough. My surgeon didn't give me any nutrition advice. I know how to heal from exercise, so maybe he felt he didn't need to. I still wish he would. I'm just trying to use common sense. I don't think I can bring myself to eat white carbs for dinner, haven't in years! I'm sure veggies wouldn't be a problem for me since I have the opposite problem. Starting my food prep today for after.
@imyhek

if you have not been eating white food for carb for awhile, I don't think you should start. you need to stick with something that you used to and eat the food that you know it would not cause gas.

I'm the same way; I don't eat starchy carbs except minimal legumes and I'm gluten intolerant, so white starches for me would be rice and potatoes. My experience with rice is that it bloats me if I eat more than very small amounts at a time, so I'm not going in that direction. I think I will make sure to avoid the broccoli/cauliflower/kale situation, but I do well on fruit/spinach smoothies and egg whites/chicken.

A lot of the fasting is due to being put under anesthesia and not necessarily the surgery. Do what they say! you are not a doctor.
@AmGabrielle
@AmGabrielle Жыл бұрын
@@marylechkun1095 I suggest people push back on their doctor - if the surgical date is far enough away - if they have had major surgery already and have never had a complication with the anesthesia. I suspect that since so many women are having hysterectomies in the US, that some providers assemble the surgery packets based on no known response to anesthesia. I had many surgeries my whole life, including too many from age 25 to 31. Even when my tonsils were yanked at 29 I was not put on a "clear" diet the night before. I thought the clear diet was because the colon is also in this same region, but that doesn't appear to have anything to do with it.
