She says: incorporate herbs and spices into your diet, to help your skin. As well as leafy greens, beans, berries and WFPB diet. She advises sunscreen and hats etc as well for skin cancer prevention. She also advises against processed foods, roasted meats, high sugar diets.

This was a very good show. Dr. Bruce recommends incorporating LEAFY GREENS, BEANS AND ALL BERRIES. Avoid meat and dairy. She mentioned that Roasted and Grilled foods as well as spicy foods, alcohol and peanuts or peanut butter can lead to fragile skin conditions like rosacea, psoriasis and acne. It's worth listening to the whole show, when you have time. Thank you Chuck Carroll and Dr. Suzanne Bruce.

Noooooo not my peanut butter

My teenaged son is eating plant based, no dairy no meat, with problematic acne despite maintaining great skin care. I told him to eliminate the excessive peanut butter that he consumes on a daily basis just yesterday, so this is timely to hear that peanut butter could be the culprit. Will be interesting to see the impact, if any, cutting way down or eliminating peanut butter has on his skin!

PB was a trigger for me too, despite being told by a dermatologist that diet didn’t impact my acne. I do ok with sunflower seed butter or limited almond butter.

I'm using Badger Sport Mineral sunscreen cream. 98% organic with clear zinc. So does not leave my skin white when applied. It also spreads like a cream and has no odor. None! And I have a bloodhound nose and do not tolerate fragrances. Mine is only spf 40 but higher spf may be available.

That is interesting to know that Badger has developed a sunscreen that does not leave a white cast on the skin.

The AGE content of refined sugar is 0. Meanwhile, the AGE content of olive oil is 11,900. A low-fat, high-carbohydrate diet, including refined sugar, has only helped my skin to appear more youthful and acne-free.

No, she says and the research shows that high sugar including refined sugar leads to AGEs so no you can’t drink sugary low-fat drinks or eat processed sugary foods and not build up AGEs
@saphiresumpter
@saphiresumpter 3 ай бұрын
@@amplifiedheart The AGE content of fruit juice ranges from 0-6. For sugar, it’s 0. 99% of processed sugary foods contain equal or higher amounts of fat. It’s nearly impossible for me to find low-fat processed foods. Testing your Hemoglobin A1c is a primary indicator of glycation/AGE activity in the body. The ideal range is 4.8 - 5.6. Mine is 5.2. My diet is 90% carbohydrates/sugar, 5% protein, and 5% fat. Along with fruit, vegetables, rice, potatoes, pasta, bread, etc, my diet includes juice and oil-free or low-fat snacks if I’m ever able to find them. The key is to keep my fat intake very low.
@amplifiedheart

@@saphiresumpter I thought the whole idea is the refined sugar when it goes into the body causes proteins to bind together creating AGEs

As a farmer I’m finally taking sun protection seriously. Vegan all day baby!! Question for people - how can we temper spices for dishes without oil? Just use water and keep an eye on it boiling off?

I don't know if it's right, but that's what I've been doing. I'd be interested to know this for sure, too. I don't need to loose weight, so I still use a teaspoon (I measure it out) of fresh pressed extra virgin olive oil in my basmati rice for the flavor, but have been using water for everything else.
@FungalNetwork
@FungalNetwork 3 ай бұрын
@@SlowLivingWithAutism nice, thanks I’ll definitely try that more. As long as you feel like the flavor is coming through still that’s all that matters I guess! I wonder if water is just healthier overall for the spices or if there is any truth to the fat in the oil contributing to more bioavailability in the spices absorption? Idk probably doesn’t matter too much
@SlowLivingWithAutism
@SlowLivingWithAutism 3 ай бұрын
@FungalNetwork I wonder the same. I know some nutrients are better absorbed with fat, however I assume that since there's usually a little fat within the meal, it should be ok. But, I'm not a nutritionist ... I'm just assuming! 😊
@kiwiwriter
@kiwiwriter 2 ай бұрын
@@SlowLivingWithAutism we might all consider the healthy fats in nuts and seeds and how we might utilise them to 'carry' other nutrients without resorting to oils. easier said than done but every recipe we can apply this to might help the larger picture.

Eating healthy is just one piece of the pie, you also need to detox your body weekly. Cut out all toxic household products and replace them with healthy versions. I bought a near infrared sauna and use ozone weekly. I get compliments all the time about how amazing my skin is. I'm over 50 too.

I have been eating whole food plant based for 3.5 years now and every spring/summer break out with almost rashlike acne on my face, jaw line especially. I had a chiropractor tell me I was eating too many potatoes, fruit, and broccoli- which sounded odd to me. I live in Nashville and it can be more humid at this time of year, and am wondering if that has anything to do with this? I also have allergies, but that’s never caused acne before. Any suggestions?🥹🙏🏻🙏🏻 I also eat low fat- and super clean.

Mix 2 Tbsp olive oil n 1 tbsp coconut oil. ., option to add later. Once your skin clears up. Castro oil, w/ 7 oils actually add to it . And dab you face with a baby washcloth . I prefer. Keep in your bathroom supplies. Dab daily . As needed. Thru out day. Great for arm leg stomach. To heal internal . Dab on eye lids. Heal eye internal. I had a breakout on my forehead cause my dog licked my oil off my forehead. I washed w/ soap n wash that I’m use to , added Vick to heal it. A natural . . It’s cleared up, as of today. Go back to oils w/ castor oil . Heals skin anti wrinkles, clears mist issues restores hair growth .
