The thing that I remember most about Starship Flight Test 1, was that, even before the booster lost attitude control when the servo hydraulic system that controlled the gimbals failed, the booster for the second test had already been assembled with servo electric gimbals instead. There were other improvements in the booster for the second flight, even though the first one had not failed yet. When Musk said flight 1 was a success, he explained that it was a successful proof of the fundamental capabilities of the basic design. It had lifted off and was capable of stable flight.

If SpaceX doesn't want to recover Ship 29, that's fine, but they should be out there to recover the engines and to sink the starship, if it's still floating. I don't think we should leave those engines out there for our enemies to capture and reverse engineer. The last thing we need is Iranian, Chinese, Russian, and North Korean ballistic missiles with better engines.

There is few more tests to conduct, like going full orbit, launching with mass simulations, optimisation aka removing stuff as there is lot of hardware that was added in meantime, and OFC catching attempts. V2 will be produced when raptor 3 are sufficiently developed and in enough numbers for at least 2 fully assembled stacks. I think there is enough tests to conduct with V1, that allows to have more refined V2, that imho we run sooner out of V1 prototypes than we run out of tests. ESPECIALLY that I doubt that V2 will be assembled before starfactory will come online.
