A glimpse into a day of Bailey first heat cycle…
Our Bailey is a 8month old ShiHTzu pup.
ShihTzu can expect to get their first heat between 7-9 months. Incase they don’t get their heat upto 1 year, pls take vet’s advise.

Thank you for sharing. I wasn't prepared for her 1st period. She just turned 1 yrs old. Oct 10th. I'm so nervous about the whole thing. 😬 I am considering spaying her. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I’ve not done spaying for Bailey yet! Shez over with her 2nd period too and by God’s grace she is all good without spaying!

For Bailey it was around 7-8 days, very tiny spot kind of discharge in her diapers, that’s it. Now we are waiting for her 2nd cycle! “Happy pawrenting”

May i know when was the first heat cycle is expected to see. My shitzhu is 6 months old and i could see signs for past 2 days. Luckily i got to see ur video, could u pls help and guide.

I believe anytime between 6-9 months, first cycle will happen.

How would I go about this im nervous have u neutered?? I’m considering of doing that so I won’t deal with the periods I wanted a another boy but I thought it was bad to have the same gender:(

We haven’t yet for Bailey, just want her to the way nature has gifted her. Not keen for any surgical process on our little gal. And trust me, periods with ShihTzu (out of my experience with Bailey) is not so difficult to manage as well! “Happy Paw-renting”

My knowledge is limited to our little gal, Bailey! Suggest you to check with ur veterinarian for right advice and health check ups!

Ma'am, How often are we supposed to change the dipers? And can the diper be on even when she wants to urinate?

Hi Jagruthi, I used to remove her diapers, when I take her for her regular walk… Shez diaper free then and does her business during her walk. They don’t have much bleeding like other breeds, so max 2 diapers used to work for us with Bailey! Just give them a lot of pampering and cuddles during this period… they would love it as always, at the same time it is quite soothing for them then! “Happy Pawrenting!!!” PS :- These are my views based on our experience with our little Princess, Bailey!
