From how long it takes to get your residency card in Mexico to projected increases to financial requirements, I sat down with immigration facilitator Ivonne Pavvan of Host Relocation to ask WHAT TO EXPECT from the Mexico residency process in 2024.
The best way to get in touch with Ivonne Pavaan of Host Relocation is to send her a WhatsApp message via the number listed on the Host Relocation website (scroll down to the footer): hostrelocation.com.mx/

We used Ivonne and her team in Queretaro and got our residency cards without a hitch. She even helped our son go through the residency regularización process. She runs a professional business and the Queretaro INM office is an efficient location. Not only does Ivonne have a ton of experience and knowledge, she is very personable and a joy to work with. I highly recommend choosing her and Host Relocation to help anyone get residency. Additionally, her company will be there to assist afterwards with everything from moving to Mexico to house hunting.

Do you have documented proof that you visited Mexico between 2015 and 2022? I hear that may be a loophole to avoid the ridiculous new financial requirements and apply for citizenship. I’m trying to see if our timeshare deed will qualify since we always crossed with our cards from Arizona so we unfortunately don’t have a stamped passport book 😞 we also flew into Mexico and for some reason don’t have stamps in our books so I’m trying to see if any other proof that we were there will work. I hope this helps you , we in the USA and Canada are being squeezed between our cultures and values being stomped on and the cost of living also freedoms or shall I say lack there of .

@@Sheilawisz , I am thankful for any opportunity to get to the beautiful country of Mexico and the rules are what they are, just like our rules , I agree with some but not others but I don't get to make them. I'm actually glad Mexico seems to be stepping up on everything from border issues to infrastructure . My husband and I were actually cheering when we found out the peso was out doing even our own dollar which is bad for us but we know how other countries have been under the thumb to the assholes in our government that control our petro dollar , we want others to succeed! I specifically said the ridiculous part was the financial requirements. I am in agreement with safe borders and not allowing free loaders into your country (like have recently been allowed in our country by our current administration and the open border policies have not only hurt us financially but even Mexican citizens in the city of Puerto Peñasco) but please be honest , what Mexican citizens do you know that make around $5800 USD per month???? That's almost 98,000 pesos per month. It is actually ridiculous to think many of us make that , people think that we in the states have so much money when many of us are being taxed to death and are struggling. I love when any country , when my country the beautiful USA gives opportunities to good people and I would be empathetic and upset if they asked people coming here to make more money than most of us do per month, I'd state that was not fair because it wouldn't be .... period

Also spot on about mexicans being kind (or more polite) and having to do things face to face when they could be done online, like the change of address. Speaking of the change of address, has anyone heard of anybody being fined for not doing it, and does anyone know what are we supposed to if we are traveling a lot, gracias?

Gringos wanting temporary or permanent visas in Mexico for 2024 are in for a shock. At the Las Vegas consulate it's $4300 for a temp and $7300 a month guarantee income for a permanent visa. Mexico doesn't want old retirees living on Social Security anymore. Those days are over. No one gets $4300 a month on SS. If you have that kind of permanent income you can get visa's from countries all over the world.
@littletravelmonkey6727

Yes. I just checked on a few Mexican consulates throughout the US. Not even every consulate has its own number, but also ridiculously high, like you said, $4500 monthly for temporary and $7500 for permanent. Those numbers are for RETIREES AND PENDIONERS. For those who's under 64 years old, it's even higher. With the cost of living in Mexico has gone up so much and at the same time requires so much to qualify the resident program, there are other better places to look into.

I firmly believe that online classes are still incredibly useful even if you don't have anyone in your daily life who speaks Spanish. Thanks to the internet, you can connect with native Spanish speakers wherever you are in the world to put into practice what you're learning in your lessons. I love italki for conversation classes with engaging community tutors. If you're on a tight budget, HelloTalk is an app that lets you chat with native speakers for free.

You can also leave Mexico and when you return get a 180 day tourist visa. I know many who have down that. If you are on Medicare you can get a mailbox address in San Diego and have your primary doctor there, and your Medicare will be covered. Being jerked off by the office of whatever state in Mexico you’re in would be the answer. I am married to a Mexican and went to the Houston consulate to fully complete all paperwork along with a sticker of my temporary residence in my passport. When I got to the office in SLP they said I needed to re do all the paperwork, pay the fees again and wait a month for an appointment. I had to travel back to the US the following week for work so everything I had done at the consulate was void by me leaving the country. Anyone who is serious about Mexico should have unlimited time and patience because from what I’ve dealt with over the last 20 years it is always a shitshow and never consistent. I’ve even had to drive 4 hours back home and switch cars to temporary import before because my title didn’t list JR after my name.
