You can build a food forest off of potatoes and whatever you can't pick you leave for the chickens and if you have goats and pigs them too

So can I stagger crops? For instance basil is a good companion for tomatoes and potatoes, but tomatoes and potatoes shouldn't be next to each other. Can I go potato/ basil/ tomato?

I would plant them in a different bed altogether so one doesn’t steal nutrients from the other.
