If Alonso does end up wining the League, I would love to see if he can build upon it. Could be a change in the status quo and he could see it as "I can create a period of dominance" at Leverkusen, could go on and win more titles. Also sort of a free hit in the champions league next year with Leverkusen as they wouldn't be expected to win. If clubs are serious about him now, they should still be after one more year at BL.

If a big team comes calling you have to go especially with the lack of talent out there in management. If he stays the Liverpool, Bayern, Madrid jobs wouldn't be available anymore as Liverpool and Bayern probably go for alternatives if Xabi stays and the Madrid job Ancelotti would have a year left and could extend considering Madrid will have a super team and need an experienced manager to handle all of those big egos.

@@Kizzster I don't disagree. Though before Klopp, Liverpool also had a run of a few managers in quick succession. Following Klopp is a tall order. I think his coaching path will follow that of his playing career in a similar type of order. Liverpool, Madrid and then Bayern. I feel at Liverpool he would be given more time by both the owners and the fans...I can see him spending 4-6 years there before moving onto Madrid. If he doesn't take the Liverpool job it could be a long time before he is offered it again if Klopps succour is successful. Due to the nature of both Bayern and Real, those jobs come around more frequently due to their historic lack of patience those clubs have with their coaches...which tends to last 3 years(minus Don Carlo!)

I don't think Bayern Munich fully appreciate how big a rebuild they've got on their hands - both in terms of mindset and players. A rebuild needs time. Alonso's not dumb, he can see they didn't give Nagelsmann or Tuchel enough time. He can't look at the hierarchy and feel confident in them. Hero status means nothing. Bayern finish second - Alonso's out. By that time, Klopp could be free and Bayern will start fluttering their lashes at him. I don't agree with Honigstein that Liverpool closes doors. He's never expressed an interest in managing anyone else in England, so what English options did Honigstein think could be open to him? Arsenal? Manchester United? Manchester City? Rodgers and Hodgson managed other clubs after leaving Liverpool, Klopp would be in demand after his sabbatical. I think for Alonso, it's a straight fight between staying where he is and going to Liverpool.

I think Klopp does take the Germany job after the Euros, he has spoken he does want to win the world cup for Germany, he's rounded out and becomed more of a possession coach last couple of years, which you need to be, especially for a national team like Germany. Considering how Germany has flamed out last couple tournaments, he can be viewed as a savior for turning things around. I think there also might be timing involved, Klopp is 56 right now, if someone takes the job and is successful, he might stay on for 2, 3 or even 4 international cycles, it might mean he won't get a chance to coach Germany until his late 60's, and lets be honest, that will probably be too late. Also Zidane has been waiting for the French job, Pep has said he wants to coach Spain at some point, this is the cycle to take over Germany's job and trying to strike big.

And let’s also not forget that he fought with a global pandemic in his first season as a coach.
