Excellent video as usual. wish me luck, going on my first 3D competition this year in Sweden, with my Great Plains Longbow 45lbs. got hooked on Bamboo arrows a year ago, I have even bought flowerpots(Bamboo), put 4hrs of work on them to get them straight, and grinding away the knuckles, and they working fine, and cost almost nothing, only a hell a lot of work, but I love the Longbows and the all types of arrows, I have been doing tests with arrows, tapered Cedar in one end, or both ends, mixing with different Tip weights, and FOCs, so finally after 9 years I have started to use my testing arrows on competitions, and I had a few victories among the veterans, but this year I will try my wings with the Elit guys. Im also went this year from splitfinger (glove), to 3 under with Tab, and on top I went from instinctive to a Gap shooter. I have improve my shooting a lot with above, so these days I do more practice shooting then arrow testing. Got Swedish License, and last year even my Spanish, I live half time in Sweden( summertime) and winter in Spain. Got many good advices from you guys, and others like Clay Hayes/Gary Chymne, Joel Turner and many others, there is a lot on Tube to learn from others. is it allowed to shoot Bamboo arrows on a normal competition in UK? Tried River Canes as well, very light and sensitive, and breaks much easier then Bamboo or Cedar wood arrows. One day I will buy a true British Longbow, and shoot only historical arrows, haven't got that far yet ha ha. Take good care Guys, and thanks again for always having good videos

You can also shoot aerial targets with flu flu's. Frisbees are fun! There is an archery dove hunting season here also. I don't hunt, but if I did, it looks challenging. I love the pushmi-pullyu arrow. (Dolittle reference there)

Could you do a video on how to make footed arrows and those horn nocks please?

Another important point id like to add is wasted energy by not tuning the arrows correctly.. Fishtailing from a weak/stiff spine will waste energy through the air.. Larger feathers will hide it to a great extent.. I was alarmed when a bow I shot fairly well with, started to misbehave when I put on some small 2 inch target feathers.. Spine was out of whack and they were fishtailing all the way to the target.. As soon as I sorted the spine out on the shafts, coupled with the 2 inch feathers, I was getting amazing distance and accuracy.. Without fine tuning the spine coupled with 2 inch feathers I was getting very erratic arrow patterns downrange..3 inch would make it look like they were perfectly suited.. But the range was afull...😆

I’d actually love to see you do repairing wood shaft arrows just cause you guys are incredibly talented craftsmen. The crowning of arrows I’d like to see you doing as well. As always great video. Great advice and can lead everyone down deep rabbit holes. But yes that little difference in fletching I’ve found to be a difference some days. So I have my 4” and 3” or less fletching. I haven’t yet done the cutting down the height yet but that too is interesting. Thanks again.

Really great lesson. I still shoot mostly aluminum, so I can get away with one set for everything. But, I really do want to build sets of wooden arrows in the future. I presume the barrel shafted arrows are done so one can get adequate spine while reducing the shaft diameter to a minimum overall. Is there any reason (besides time and trouble) to not treat ones field arrows this way? Yes, I have broken aluminum arrows while field shooting (pesky branches and rocks).

Right then boys! What do you know about flight arrows ? when I was a kid our local sports shop sold a lot of archery kit, and I remember them selling Flight arrows which were fletched with two broad undyed feathers. Any info ?

Normally I shoot arrows around 10 gpp weight with my English Longbows. What would be the weight for a clout arrow?
