There is a way to identify which version of the PS3 controller have their magnetometer disabled or not. Pretty much all PSmoves that start with a serial number G or 0 to 2 should have a Magnetometer enabled. Any other that's above 3 do not have it. Also you might want to use PSMoveServiceEx instead of the older version of PSMoveService. There a new features and fixes.

does this also apply to PS4 moves? and is the serial number the one bolded on the controller?

@@impalic The PS4 PSmove controller doesnt have a magnetometer so it doesnt matter

seems really good, i got the hardware, and one of my controllers has this disabled, and i think its causing some issues, due to when i start setting up my calibrations my hip tracker is going all over the place, i mean, i donsnt help that i couldn't find any good usable long length usb extenders, so ive had to use a usb hub taped to my roof in the middle of my play space and that seems to work just fine. but i need to do some 3d printing to get the new brackets for my cams to sit on. if i do find a good way on mounting them ill share the 3d printing files here...

I found this on an old google groups conversation. I believe this will help some people from making the same mistake i made with buying a controller with a disabled magnetometer CECH-2CM2U: disabled CECH-ZCM2J: disabled CECH-ZCM2N: disabled CECH-ZCM2G: disabled CECH-ZCM1U B: enabled CECH-ZCM1U C: enabled CECH-ZCM1U E: disabled CECH-ZCM1E: This one is complicated, one guy had two of this model One was enabled (right) and the other is disabled (left). I would look at my comment and Externet's before buying controllers. also if anyone has figured out a way to flash the firmware and reactivate the magnetometer please point me in the right direction.

hi! my serial number is CECH-ZCM2U and it isnt listed on your comment. any idea whether if it's enabled or not?

Please dont use the letters of the model number at the end to verify if they have magnetometers or not. Use the serial number instead. Because its very inconsistent and doesnt really mean anything. For example CECH-ZCM1U E can have both enabled AND disabled just like your test case. Using the serial has proven to be the best method to check enabled/disable magnetometers.

@@impalic PS4 PSmoves dont have magnetometers. Only PS3 Gen1 have them.

Thank you for your explanation, I have a question. I own the second version of PlayStation Move, and I have a big problem with it connecting to my PlayStation 5. I tried many ways to connect to my PlayStation 5 and I couldn't, I searched a lot and couldn't find anything and I became confused what to do with these sticks , they became useless right Now.

ive been having an issue where the cameras will just freeze for a random amount of time on occasion, which sucks when actively in vr and i cant really figure out what could be causing the issue. my best guess could be some change in windows 11 vs 10 but i dont really have a way to test that unless i completely reinstall windows

Random freezing as a symptom of a USB controller being overloaded with bandwidth from a lot of cameras at once. You can check the troubleshooting playlist linked in the main vid to find a video about that from another creator.

wow ok so attempting this has revealed 2 things to me: the 3 cameras i bought all have issues of some sort, and the usb ports on my motherboard have issues. i went and purchased a pci usb card, and the only camera that doesnt immediately freeze the test camera software is the one i already owned. when attempting to have others plugged into multiple places, two of the 3 i bought dont work on any motherboard ports, the 1 works on one port, and the one i owned beforehand works on 3 of the 6. this really sucks, because the little bit of time ive gotten with 3 of the cameras working well enough was really cool

So is it actually worth it to buy all of the stuff for full body with the ps move if you dont have any of it or is it a better idea to save the money and go for vive trackers?

I bought all of the stuff specifically for fullbody because I didn't have it before, so I would say yes.

I wanted to ask, is that calibration mat that you print off absolutely essential? I have everything needed to get this set up going but no printer... tried to get two people to print and got the wrong page layout aha

You don't specifically need the mat itself, just something with the same measurements and order of the points to show you where to put the controllers down. So if you can sketch out your own on a piece of paper, you should be good so long as its the same size.

@@Athailya not sure, you could check on the PSmove service GitHub page. But the calibration paper is A4 in size, so you could reverse measure it using the image

Does anyone know of any good straps that will hold these move controllers to your body? Can only find Vive tracker straps online...

I've heard you can remove the screw points on low cost straps and zip tie the move controller where the Vive tracker would have gone.

If you've already tried all of the videos in the troubleshooting playlist (some of them in there are unlisted and wont show on my channel page), maybe trying the PSmove service EX will help

ps4 move controllers are not recommended because of the lack of magnetometer unfortunately, so personally i dont think so

after working near constantly on setting up the psmove service i could never get it to stay stable for long enough to be worth it. So I switched to slimevr and its' working great for like 70 bucks DIY it requires a little work but honestly it's no more work than setting up the psmoev service for me

I can't connect more than one psmove ps3 controller at a time. They both can connect, but only one at one time. Is there a fix?

when i move my right feet forward it is basicly my left tracker and its moving backwards instead how can i fix that? pls help

Sounds like your playspace is foot controllers are calibrated facing backwards

@@Sutivr you are able to adjust the offsets of trackers in K2VR, or you could try changing the forward direction you calibrate the controllers in/calibrate your playspace in

I've also had complete unseccess pairing two ps4 versions to my PC at the same time. only was able to get one ps3 controller and one ps4 controller on at once. I had originally thought it was a faulty controller so I got 2 more and still no success.

@@Cai_VR Yes I've seen that video but the problem that I'm encountering has something to due with the ps4 controller drivers not liking two of them. The video did however fix the pairing issue with 2, it just only worked with the ps3 and ps4 one together.

Soo yea, i bought ps4 controllers that have magnitometer disabled. So he basically got lucky with his friends controllers

same lol, im currently looking into getting the ps3 version.CECH-ZCM1U B and CECH-ZCM1U C models seem to be what we want, they go for like 20 dollars on ebay
