Weldon Irvine lived in Cambria Heights Queens in the early 70's. I used to dig at the nearby Valley Stream flea market in the early 90's and once found a beautiful copy of that Nodlew Liberated Brother album for $1.

If you’re just now getting into Jazz I would focus on audiophile reissues like Blue Note Tone Poets and Classic Series. These that he puts up on eBay are going to be expensive. OG and older pressings are going to be sought after more by serious jazz collectors and they will bid the price up. And, more often than not, the sound is better on the newer audiophile reissue series’.

Great stuff, love your channel. BUT please don't perpetuate the myth that you can look at a record and tell if it's been played. Many sellers get away with this nonsense assessment. NM or even M: yes --- but 'unplayed' is too far. I have heard my fair share of "unplayed" records with audible groove damage. Looking forward to more of Sir George's collection. Thanks !!

Ok,OK,. I ,too, love your enthusiasm. BUT... you obviously love "the music" and-like most of us-continue to learn more about it. One thing you should know is that the Art Blakey lp is called "Buhaina's Delight" (pronounced Boo-HEY-na),the last "na" as in "Sha-na-na". According to the lp liner notes by Leonard Feather,Buhaina "is Abdullah Ibn Buhaina, alias Art Blakey. One of the first jazzmen...attracted to the tenets of Islam,he does not use the name professionally." So,NOT "Buddah",but Muhammad! 😀 Also, recommended reading to flesh out the music's history in interesting ways :"Hard Bop" David Rosenthal(informative and swingin') "Notes And Tones" Drummer Art Taylor's collection of first person interviews with fellow musicians. What it was REALLY like...(essential reading) Thanks again, and keep swingin'...

@8:45 - 'splotching from records stored in paper sleeves' - interesting how you're saying that as you're pulling the vinyl out of a plastic sleeve with a plastic type sleeve outside of the record jacket as well - and interesting how you're the first person to ever state paper sleeves will cause a chemical reaction with vinyl. It's true some rigid forms of paper can cause micro scratches scuffs ect - not a chemical reaction though. Do you have any sources to back up such a claim? BTW some call it 'ghosting' or 'hazing' of the vinyl
