15 yo Dany wrote "When I'm Alone" when the girls attended a 6-week summer session at Berklee School of Music in 2015. In the last week she had a homework assignment to write a song by herself and after fighting writer's block she wrote this masterpiece the night before it was due. It's partly about her homesickness, but also about her struggle to fit in and be understood in her classes since she was a very young latina mixed in with older English-only speakers. ADD: Forgot to add that she wrote this in her 2nd language and did a masterful job of describing her situation in a way that deeply resonates with anyone who's been in a similar situation.

Dany wrote this as a homesick 15 yr old when the girls were at Berklee for the summer. One of the few, if not the only TW song, to not feature harmonies, just all Dany's vocals. It's a classic!

Notice that Dany is alone singing as well? I'm glad they did not feel it necessary to add backing vocals on this.

For someone who constantly preaches his love of punk rock, I can't believe nobody's recommended the track Z. Very punk. Of course, the live cut at Teatro Metropolitan (which is just spanish for the Metropolitan Theater, if that's easier to say) is the best version!

This is my favourite song of theirs. Very relatable. And the drums and guitar solo kick ass.

Love this song, and it's pure alt 90's. Dany was born in 2000 so none of them were around in the 90's. That's also a good trick for remembering their ages. Dany will always be the age of whatever year it is. so in 2024 she is 24, and there is 2 years between her and Pau. And three years between Pau and Ale. Their birthdays are all close to the first of the year so it usually works out.

"She's so adorable" LOL. Don't bother reacting, but if you go through and watch their "Funniest Moments" videos, you'll be saying that multiple times about each of them, all day LOL. Great reaction! You haven't reacted to Martirio or Que Mas Quieres yet, both have pretty great music videos. Both are 100% in Spanish. The concept for the video for Que Mas Quieres was Pau's idea, she did the screenplay and co-directed the video as well.

It's not just that she had homesick, but the pressure of being forced to constantly be a rock for her younger sisters regardless of how she felt, a “ replacement mother” if you want to look at it that way. For someone 15 years old, in a strange country with a strange culture (language I don't think was an impediment as even then all three already spoke near perfect English) and with the huge heart that Dany has it must have been anything but easy. All smiles, positivity and professionalism on a day to day basis, but when the light goes out.... And hence this piece of art.

Always fun to see when Ale and Pau have a casual non verbal conversation while Dany goes Dany. As a three peace that refuses to do fillers it's amazing to see how they always come up with something different while giving it their own distinct style. For me there is nothing in their repertoire that doesn't sound like a Warning song

Ale and Pau accompany with only their instruments... no harmonies or backing vocals... the blacked out solo beginning and ending with Dany alone in the spotlight is beautiful and quite fitting for this song and what it represents... Dany wrote this when the girls were at Berklee Music College (aka BMC) in Boston back in 2015 attending the summer session they offer(ed)... she got very homesick and also had a homework task to write a song... she hadn't any ideas, time was running out, and being homesick was devastating... she recorded a teary vlog about it... afterward she realized she could harness the emotions and pain she was feeling to write her song... i haven't heard what grade she got for it but many of us hope it was an A+... Dany has also stated several times that when she writes a song, it is from her heart and whatever emotions she is feeling at the time... so here we are enjoying this truly heartfelt song of loneliness and heartache... speaking of Berklee Music College, their concert at "Liceo" (basically Spanish for "learning place" or "high school") had multiple purposes... for one purpose, the story is that they needed something to submit to Berklee showing Ale's and Pau's chops and how well they played their instruments... this because both of them were less than 15 years old which is/was the age cut off for the summer program they were wanting to attend... so each of them chose a song to show off their talents... IIRC, those songs were "Hysteria" for Ale, "Everlong" for Pau, and "Crazy Train" for Dany... apparently BMC accepted their submissions because all three girls attended at the same time... while they were there they did vlogs to send to Ellen DeGeneres to keep her and her show up to date on how they were doing while at BMC... this because Ellen and Target gave each of the girls a check to help pay for them to attend the summer session at BMC... If you end up reacting to Hunter (which they did perform at this concert) there is a half time section that has a very RUSH vibe in it. Fun fact: During a live performance some years back (I forget which one) there was a fan had a sign that read "Huele a Melon" (smells a melon) and had a picture of a watermelon🍉. Dany saw that and bust out laughing. It's one of those inside jokes like "numberly garfs start running" that Dany and Ale thought Pau sang in Disciple when they were recording it. Of course in reality Pau sings "nonbelievers start running." It's these little tidbits that makes The Warning the best band ever!!! #GetWarned

Speaking of the timing of the lights and music, my understanding is that Pau programs the light controls and the onstage video screens (when they use them) on her laptop. She then triggers them (along with the clics for their in-ears) with a MIDI footpedal at the beginning of each song. As for the venue name, it's Tay AH tro (emphasis on the AH) Metro POley tahn (emphasis on the pole). It is Spanish for metropolitan theater.

There's a slightly more recent concert where Dany takes this one, well, alone. Pau & Ale aren't even on stage. The audience's reaction hits Dany right in the feels & she stops for a bit about half way through. As for what's next? The "Queen of the Murder Scene" debut concert at Lunario CDMX. You want an album to listen to start to finish? QotMS is it. It's a concept album about a woman whose unrequited love turns to obsession, madness, and murder. It released in 2018 & IIRC they started writing it at 16, 14, and 11 during Pau's self-described "emo phase".

One criticism on them is its "basic" Not ,over the top difficulty. and those "critics" haven't done their research. All 3 of these ladies can shred....🤘🏼🤘🏼 I've seen the videos. They don't need to be over the top. They show glimpses of their individual abilities... The song writing ability they have is outstanding. Every song is almost perfect. Drum roll at the right time. My 3 favorite The Warning songs - 1. When I'm Alone 2. Black Holes 3. Crimson Queen Not your usual fare by them but all 3 are beautifully written and performed. Note - probably the best performance of Black Holes is at the Dakota Bar (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orNofsiCxNqygZc.htmlsi=xcCVVudc8eTqfVcd) - Pau gives 110%+ in the emotion of her voice (she wrote this at 15, and performs it on the piano) and Dany's guitar harmonics is sublime. Crimson Queen should be a double reaction (Lunario 2018 and a 'unique' performance from Foro Didi 2019) As for When I'm Alone - this track resonates with everyone regardless of culture, age, gender, in fact anything that could be considered a different state of being. This is one track I ALWAYS watch reactors when they put it up (I watched this 5 minutes after you put it up but I had visitors at the time so I had to curb my enthusiasm 😁knowing I was going to type hence the delay - I'm currently Alone atm). As you would have learned from the comments, how this track came about and Dany's age when she wrote this, it also holds a special place (not just for Dany) but for many of TWA. the Teatro Metropolitan (Metropolitan Theater) in CDMX (Mexico City - 2240m, 7350ft) is higher in altitude than Denver, Colorado (1609m, 5280ft)! certainly higher than their home town of Monterrey, Mexico (540m, 1770ft)... this is mentioned because of the altitude and thin air... when doing strenuous activities, you need more air... the Metropolitan holds like 3500 in this configuration and DPA/TW sold out both nights they played (Aug 26th and 29th) 😜😹 TWA ⚡🤘😸🤘⚡ TWA
