One of the things I love most about homeschooling is you’re not down to public schools schedule and you can be flexible when you need to. My son had surgery this summer and multiple complications and ended up hospitalized for six weeks our school year got off to a pretty rough start. But we are slowly starting now at the end of September we are planning on doing Saturday school because we have Monday and Tuesday morning doctor and therapy appointments. But it’ll all work out we also school year around most of the time he

Always check with your state and see what they require for homeschooling. Every state is different. I would have loved to home school my kids, but at that time I would have been jailed because it was not allowed. Just FYI.

I've been a follower for a while and just found your curriculum. We've used many over the last few years and I wanted something simple and to the point. I moved to NC just over 3 years ago and my husband works at A&M. A co worker mentioned your husband and your channel a while back and I thought it was awesome that i was already following you here.

Thank you for this video Amy. I bought your basic curriculum books for my 6th and 2nd graders this year and supplemented with an American history and bible courses. We have reading time and I still need to find a good science curriculum. But this video gives me confidence that it's all going to work out just fine. I love the freedom of homeschooling! My sons struggled with disciplinary problems at school and I just wanted to remove them from that and get them back to loving to learn. A decade ago when I was homeschooling my girls, people would treat you like you were weird but these days it's becoming more and more common. Thank you for taking the stress out of it for me! ❤ I love teaching now, just as it should be

I live in England, about 70 miles away from Charlotte Mason’s school in Ambleside and have visited the area many times. It’s in the heart of the beautiful English Lake District. I homeschooled my daughter at a point, pre-covid when it was relatively unusual to homeschool in the UK, and used many of the Charlotte Mason methodologies. Good luck with your homeschool year! I wish I had known about your resources when I was homeschooling.

We home educate year around, but take breaks for the best weather. We keep the children in during the heat of the day in the summer...so we do a couple hours during the summer, we enjoy the fall immensely here so if we were going to take a few weeks off...Septrmber and October is our favorite time to spend days at the park, in the winter we get extra readalouds in, and as soon as spring comes we take time off for tge yard work and gardens.

Here in Ontario our government has many websites that parents can get free curriculum and see what you can teach your kids. It’s great. Canada is great for homeschooling as long as you let your local school board know your kids are still homeschooling. It’s great.

I went to private schools, so we had Bible class and memorization every day/week. On Wednesday, I was in Pioneer Girls. My kids were in Awana. My favorite things we memorized were the Christmas story (I can say it with Linus on Peanuts lol) and the different chapters in Psalms. I am grateful for those assignments. I went to Institute of Basic Living (and Basic Youth Conflicts) conferences in the 80s, also. Good stuff! Thanks for the walk down memory lane! 💝

This is my second full year of homeschooling. I am a retired teacher, so it has been hard to get myself out of the public-school mind set. Last year I just used several different books and created my own curriculum based on the Standards of what children are expected to learn by the end of the school year. I found that it was just too stressful for me to try to make sure I was fitting everything in and getting lesson plans done. This year I purchased a curriculum called Sonlight. I love it. It is a little expensive, but it comes with lesson plans, fiction and non-fiction books and it ties the scripture in to the lessons. I know it isn't for everyone, but if you can afford it; it is a wonderful investment. Another plus is that you can use it for the next child coming up. Thanks for all the wonderful content.

My daughter is in 7th grade and I’m reading her the little house on the prairie series before bed! We were watching the old tv series and she said she wanted to read the books! I love the little house series so no problem! My daughter does public school and her us history class is using everything you need to ace US History book in her class! I got the other ones like math and science too! I like to have things for supplementing if needed. Now that she’s older and they have more honor courses I don’t need to as much! I was not fortunate enough to be able to homeschool my kiddos, I was able to request the school to allow me to choose the books they read during school time and for reports/free time. My older girls really enjoyed the book series that starts with " This present darkness". It's Christian based and there are several in there series and my oldest loves a good suspense novel or story.

Wow! You have set up a very full year for yourself and your kids - but I know you guys can handle it! :>} I agree with no devises at bedtime. My 11 year old granddaughter was having trouble with insomnia (can you imagine?) until they established a routine that all devises are off at least an hour before bedtime. She spends that time reading - a "real" book (not digital). She also takes a Melatonin gummy to help her brain slow down so she can sleep. I love that you all value reading/books so much. Where would we be without books?! Blessings, Janell
