Thank you, Dr. Jha, for saying that we need to de-politicize vaccines, and health in general. I'm a retired respiratory therapist, and I can tell you that if I'm taking care of a patient, their political meanings do not influence what choices are made in their care. Btw, I recently had covid for two weeks. I bought two new tests from two different manufacturers. At day three of my symptoms, I tested negative with both tests. At day 5, I tested negative with both tests. On day 6, I went to a walk-in clinic that prescribed me a medrol dose pack and zithromax. The walk in clinic informed me that they do not test for covid at their clinic ((??). Three days later, my husband stars to feel crappy. He tests with one of our covid home tests and comes up immediately positive, so I take a test. A week and a half into my nasty symptoms, I test positive. WAY past the point of qualifying for paxlovid which helped me immensely two years ago. Did I have a head cold first, and then acquire covid from my husband? Or--did I have covid all along and it took a week or more for the antigen to be prevalent enough for the tests to register positive?? Thanks in advance!

Unbelievable... Chris, you are talking to people in your own echo chamber. How on earth do you expect to gain a balanced view? Apart from ego, you have a massive bias to overcome, and it's clear you have underestimated the challenge. You are NEVER going to get a clear perspective of the pandemic by talking to people who agree with you. I challenge you to interview Prof. Dr. Jay Bhattacharya, Dr Peter McCullough and other scientists who were censored by KZfaq and other social media.

Asking as a person who has issues with auto-immunity - do you have any auto-immune conditions? I feel some of us may fall into that category of people who have had our immune systems over-activated by COVID that have not yet normalized. I wish more research would be done on this. P.S. Congrats on that milestone!🎉 I understand why you would want to get back there, but no one can take that from you! Jha doesn't address the clearest failure in the US with regards to COVID, focused protection. Early on in the pandemic it became *VERY* clear that COVID was not an equal opportunity killer. Yet US public health policy treated it like it was for years after the clear data was available, and claimed expertise at the same time. i.e. Masking all children in schools (as young as 2 years old) through 2022, with cloth masks. This was absolutely crazy for anyone who had any grasp of the scientific data at the time. Yet I know of multiple schools who were taken to court by our state's public health department to punish them for not enforcing masking sufficiently in their schools. I spent hours on the phone with our public health director who communicated to me that kids in schools would not be safe until kids could be vaccinated. This was deeply unscientific.

The biggest problem was the general population expecting perfect answers when the science was happening in real time. It is always better to be overly safe rather than overly loose when you are dealing with peoples lives. But then since this was also a political process, you had people trying to not panic anyone. For those who cried and whined about masking or lockdowns, what do you say to the parent who had to bury their child? To the man who had to bury his elderly mother? To the wife who had to bury her husband? To the doctors and nurses who died treating COVID patients? A little incovnenice to save lives is more than worth the trade. My wife lost coworkers. My firend lost 14 members of his family. My church had 6 people die. Hospitals were overhwlmed with patients. We were using freezer trucks to hold piles of body bags since there was no room for them. The healthcare system literally almost collapsed. Closing the pandemic office in the WHite House was criminal. And we are not ready for the next pandemic with how childish and seflish our population is.

I will give you an on the ground experience. As a county elected official, I depended on our county health director for accurate, up to date information. During the Trump administration, there were weekly phone calls between the governors and the administration (Mike Pence). The information from these meetings flowed down to the county health directors and county officials. We were always in the know as to what was happening and changes, recommendations etc. Once Biden was elected, those calls stopped and the flow of information stopped. At that time I spoke with our county health director and he was very frustrated. He said, "We used to be very up on things, but we are now pretty much operating in the dark on our own."

Curious - Are you saying that you'd you been in Idaho during the pandemic and never caught COVID? If yes, do you think it was because you were you doing best practices (sanitizing, distancing, masking, etc.?) OR perhaps due to you having a natural immunity against it? If the latter, then that is fascinating, and perhaps could be beneficial for the entire world to know. Can you imagine YOUR blood being used as the basis for a cure or prevention against COVID, and perhaps it's variants? And, yes, COVID is spiking again here in CA (7/2024). Be well!

I was vaccine injured so I am now of course skeptical of all vaccines. I think the fact natural immunity wasn’t acknowledged was also a failure. To date I still know 0. Yes. 0 people who have died from this virus. And that includes my (at the time) 75 year old unvaccinated, diabetic, cancer survivor father. And this was in 2020, before the watered down Omicron flavor became available. I have had it at least twice that I know of. So yes, maybe there was a time at the beginning where there was a surplus of people getting sick from this virus that were most likely very close to death already that even a stiff breeze could take them out, but this is still going to be seen (as I said at the time), the greatest overreaction to anything ever in all of human history.

You're fortunate to not know anyone who died from it. I know three who passed from it in the first wave. Three 40-something year-old musicians who played a large, private wedding. Two were brothers. I knew some others during the delta variant who were hospitalized from a few days to three weeks. Only one of them were in their 60's, and he didn't have any co-morbities. He was on a bipap in the hospital for 20 days. He was tall-thin, and the picture of health. I hope that there is research being done to figure out why (in some cases) seemingly healthy, middle-aged people with no co-morbidities became very sick with covid. Was there a genetic predisposition? I, too, also knew some people that survived it that I thought for sure would not survive it. Having said that, everyone I know who had at least two vaccines got through it o.k. after the Delta wave. And, I know a lot of people.

Ashish Jha - how much exactly is LongCovid paying him? The CDC AND the WHO recommend masking right now. NYC and CA public health recommend masking. San Fran is at its highest rate since ever. Repeat infections increase risk of LongCovid.

Hey Chris, Hitler and Stalin are on the phone from hell. They've got a podcast, and they want to know if you could join them for an upcoming segment "What We Got Wrong (And Right.)." Like you, they just "want to have a conversation."

@sethblank3139 Oh...I am Canadian, where we just got free dental and prescriptions to match our free healthcare.Of we get shot visiting America in one of your 1000 yearly conservative terror attacks,we die but if we (no guns) get in a fistfight (still settle disputes this way here, like men)we go get fixed for free, same with Cancer...you get really sick, you sell homes.Ya....your winning. You fight one another while your one party system pushes your buttons.Do you really think you have two parties still, lol, cute.

@sethblank3139right!! Look at how much the Dem left has lost since 2016. I mean, with Dems taking the Senate in 2018 and Biden beating Trump in 2020 and then the big red wave that never happened in 2022, it hard to believe that the Dems are still even a thing!! They are losing like nothing I’ve ever seen!!

Before I watch this hour long video: if this man does not say “we need to make our judgements based on risk-reward analysis” then he has learned nothing.

Yeah, this guy is being too gracious. Anthony’s error wasn’t that he was confidently speaking about things that had yet to be proven. It was that he was actively lying to the American people because he didn’t trust them to make the right decisions. Lie #1) Anthony admitted that he told the public masks didn’t work because he didn’t want the supply to run out for first responders. Lie#2) Two weeks to flatten the curve? Please. The virus had only been in the US for 2 weeks and anyone with a science background would have realized that nothing short of a vaccine would slow the spread of the virus. Anthony wasn’t ignorant, he was dishonest. Other mistakes include but are not limited to: 1) By March of 2020 we knew that the predominant risk factor for dying was age. Had we quarantined the elderly instead of locking down the entire economy we would have had much better outcomes, socially and medically. 2) Masks may work for medical staff that ensure proper seals and replace their mask at the end of a shift but public masking was a clear policy failure and the practice should have been stopped by the end of 2020. I looked at the graphs for each state daily and it was very clear that cases did not noticeably decrease or slow in masking states vs non-masking states. Events should have been moved outdoors rather than banning the gathering of people. 3) The vaccine did decrease the number of cases from November 2020 through May of 2021 but there never should have been mandates. All this accomplished was fueling the anti-vax sentiment in the country. 4) Firing healthcare workers who didn’t take the jab was daft. This exasperated our shortage of medical staff. 5) Sending sick people into nursing homes…
