I have same RDX, black interior. The TouchPad took me a few hours to get used to. I put my most important apps in the four corners and all I have to do is press that corner. Much better than a computer or Lexus TouchPad. Also do use the palm rest to stabilize the hand so you are not touching everywhere when the road is bumpy. In any case, this infotainment is more intuitive and easier to use than the stuff they stick in Mercedes-Benz nowadays, which despite of having touch and dial, they are so frustrating to navigate that even me being an IT guy I got frustrated and just desisted. Why the Germans have to make everything so complicated? What this guy did not mention and most people ignore is the INCREDIBLE sound quality of the acura ELS 3D... out of this world, if you are a music lover and audiophile you will move to live inside the RDX cabin. Regarding the engine, is quicker than other turbo 2 liter 4 cylinder luxury. I tested audi 4, and mercedes C in sport+ mode and the RDX feels faster and just a nimble as these sedans. What could be better is the pedal response, you floor it and it does take a sec for the car to react. I have the SH All wheel drive so there is no wheel spinning whatsoever, and you can feel the back push. For 45K the car comes loaded with an award winning sound system, Alcantara touches in seats and dash, all the drive assists and the sports package... add equivalent to an audi or Mercedes and you'll be paying over 60k for a smaller car.

No pun intended but it annoys me that critics are so harsh with Acura. I've seen critics talking about the lack of stitching in dash, then they review and Audi or Land Rover, which had no stitching and they say nothing. Maybe that's why Acura added some to the new RDX. The RDX infotainment is a big step forward. Cars in the same category are the Mercedes GLC with the awful COMAND system... most convoluted system ever, talk about different fonts there... And Comand has no volume level indicator, unbelievable. This is important to me because I want to set the volume to a specific number and not feel tempted to increase, to protect my ears, but MB didnt think this important, neither the silent critics. And the gear shifter? Gear changes are electronic so it would be anachronistic to have a big level. Acura made the buttons so each can feel different to touch. Reverse is a pull back, Drive is a smooth round push. To do a multi point turn? Put your index in the reverse and your thumb in Drive and alternate quickly between them. Much easier than a level. Every movement is absolute and there is no need to check if you are in the correct setting. And dont get me started with the Mercedes gear stick poking from the steering column. People had to post tutorials about it. But critics? None. Is a Mercedes, they must be right. You said the RDX engine lacks sophistication but how come it makes more HP and torque than practically every other turbo 4 cil 2 liter engine in the market? This engine is only surpassed by its cousin in the Civic Type R, which is a sports car, which doesn't have to compete in miles per gallon. I appreciate the criticism comes out of love but without context it just translates into bad and unfair publicy

I just purchased this Acura RDX white red interior. I feel like all I have seen with these reviews are people complaining about how bad the infotainment is on this car. Honestly, I was a bit scared when I purchased the car. Touch pad took me like a day to get used to. Most of the reviews seems to be older people that might not be able to learn the system fast. I own a Clarity with similar button transmission and It works fine for me. The location might be a bit better in my car as the buttons fall right under my hand. I don't need to look to change selection. Lane keep assist works good too. It is not bouncing around as long as the lines are clear. I wish it would tell me when it stop working when the lines disappear. The adaptive cruise control keep you too far away from the car in front of you even in short setting and does not have a wide vision, so it breaks in curve for no reason. This one needs work. Automatic emergency breaking works well. I like to use break hold as well. Nice bleue and nice red but not together. Great review.

Volume button is also on the steering wheel, I never use the knob that’s further away on the dash. I really like my RDX Aspec, the only issue is it seems to get very poor mileage I am averaging 16-18 MPG and that’s driving mostly relaxed and in the highway a lot . Taking it into the dealer to have it looked at . This a four cylinder, and it’s getting worse mileage than the 6 cylinder Jeep I had prior 🤨.

And i dont Understand why underneath they cant add wireless charging or add additional charging ports. Also all the button labels i feel are so small. @@bandzzman1224 I wish KZfaq would do a better job notifying me about comments so I could respond better! Anyway, I haven't driven an Accord since the launch and my memory's hazy. Need to revisit. Here's the thing about the AWD. It's not tuned with any sort of rear-axle bias, which is exactly what would enhance dynamics. More traction when the front axle slips, but that's about it. There are plenty of other reasons that people buy crossovers, but they don't resonate with me. I'm happy to sit low to the ground and I'll complain about rush hour visibility while driving in a sea of trucks and SUVs, but that's not enough for me to choose a CUV over a really good sedan.

If you hate this infotainment system, try the one from lexus hahah it is horrendous and makes the car feel 5 years older than it is. I think Audi is good on this area, specially with their virtual cockpit.. but if something goes wrong, you will spend thousands. between these 3 options that I had, I went for the RDX and if I would have to choose again, I would go for the RDX no doubt.

My first experience with Acura was a 2012 RDX. I had it for 6 years and regretted trading it based on updated technology. I had a Nissan Murano for a short time and hated it due to poor visibility. I then moved to a 2019 GMC Terrain and had it for a short time due to uncomfortable seating position, hated it so I found a nice 2016 Acura MDX. I enjoyed it but as a daily driver in the midwest, it could be dangerous taking your eyes off the road due to the heating/cooling system being in the touchscreen interface. Big mistake, just my opinion. I now have a 2019 Acura RDX A Spec. Once you drive any "new" vehicle (it doesn't matter what make or model) there is always a learning curve with the infotainment system. The true touchpad design is responsive and easy compared to other systems I've test drove. The exterior is gunmetal gray with red interior and I love the shark gray rims and blacked out areas on the A Spec design. The appearance is classy luxury with sporty in all the right places and it is a pleasure to drive. It took time and patience to find one due to the Pandemic shifting everything too sloth speed. As far as the column shifter goes, it's no different than the Civic, CRV or anything that technology has vastly forced in design changes over time. On a positive note, we no longer have telephone booths because advanced technology gave us cell phones, thank God.

I own one of these. And it is great so far. Touchpad is awesome. Not hard to work with at all. The 2.0 Turbo engine has plenty of power and is actually very good on gas if you know how to drive on the speed limit.

Infotainment system should be simpler (easy like Mazda control knob which made for drivers with keeping eyes and attention on the road). Interior Color style, themes should be less of a teenage sneakers look and more balanced for an SUV.

It's really not that difficult to do this properly. I hate to say it, but it comes off as outright arrogance to force your customers to use something like this when there are better systems available.

People are getting a bit offensive in the comments, though the review was mostly positive, if Acura adds a touch screen for 2022, the infotainment system will be fixed (apple car, and Android auto do not use the 1:1 ratio on the touchpad which is a bit cumbersome when in a hurry). I am neutral on the button shifter.

A lot of people showed up here looking to validate their purchase and since we do honest, straightforward reviews, some folks didn't like hearing the infotainment system interface of the car they just bought is horrific.

Brian Makse yeah i know. They would rather have a turbo 4 cylinder that sounds like a lawn mower than a 6. A naturally aspirated V-6 would be perfect in this!

Totally agree. Emission regs in the US stifled the notion of a V6 here.

literally every thing wrong he brought up with it, is in no way an issue after like 4 hours of owning one. every media control is literally on the steering wheel too and you can hae it come up on the cluster too. no other aspec model ever had performance upgrades, ever. only the type S did. and that is one of the most desireable colour combos there was lol

Superb review. Bizarro really well defines that shifter infotainment setup. Is Acura trying too hard? I mean the Accord infotainment is perfect. And just put a regular shift lever. And that red interior with blue is too much. The prior V6 was better. Too sad.

@@BrianMakse I did too in sport mode on my bmw 330i. Even with sport mode and driving like crazy gave me a combined 26MPG. bmw has more torque and just feels more powerful. But of course bmw will break down with weird problems when it hits 5 years. I was really hoping acura got turbo tech right after so many years of testing it on other models. Im not an engine expert but maybe acura decided to trade more power with reliability? Maybe the turbo runs at lower pressures for longevity reasons?

It is so auper ugly and annoying gear shifts where your minds and thoughts are Acura Engineers... where??? why not doing it simple like Mercedes Benz and have huge area of free not busy and use that space in a very good way.
