Thorpe Park to get a new wooden coaster after Hyperia?
Hyperia is the brand new Mack hyper coaster coming to Thorpe Park in 2024! This will be an amazing new roller coaster for Thorpe Park, perfectly complementing their current coasters like Stealth, Colossus and Saw The Ride! This is also the park's first new coaster since The Swarm in 2012! This begs the question though of What Will Be Thorpe Park's NEXT Coaster AFTER Hyperia? Will it be a GCI, how about a dive coaster, or maybe a family coaster, let's discuss the possibilities of future new coasters coming to Thorpe Park!

Thorpe dont need a family coaster because they dont need to appeal to families. Thorpe should become a young-adult/ adult theme park and would defo see success

Being a purely thrill adult park hasn’t really worked for them - they’re changing direction in their new marketing that’s going to be mucin ‘lighter’

They are definitely a thrill park but they do clearly also want to target families as these groups bring in more money for the parks via food and merch purchases than thrill seekers and teens. Every major thrill park also needs a high quality family coaster but I agree Thorpe is a park focussed on thrills more than families

Thorpe are trying to change their direction with things and are trying to appeal to more families, look at the family rides they’ve freshened up as of recent like dobble tea party and high striker

@@OllieCoaster yeah I agree, it’s clear they want to start appealing to families not just thrill seekers and I think a family coaster and a whole re theme and new rides of angry birds land in the next few years would be perfect for the park

YES! I don’t know why they love short layouts so much, this is my main criticism with Hyperia, I think it will be awesome but a classic b&m hyper with long layout would’ve been better because of the longer ride time for me

Because Merlin want records for the least cost possible. They don't prioritise ride experience. The only reason Hyperia has such an interesting layout is becuase Thorpe wanted too big of a ride on too small of a plot of land, thankfully Mack are talented enough to make up for Merlin's self-sabotage

Thorpe isn’t really Merlins Family park, I feel like it’s good as a Teenager / Adult day out and saying that I really think an RMC Raptor would be a cool fit for the park, I think they have good plot of land where the water slides are and Raptors putting a lot into a small footprint would be great. Not to mention UK enthusiasts have been begging for an RMC for years, it may not be a giant Hybrid RMC but thinking realistically they couldn’t go wrong with a single rail in that plot of land. I’ve never been on the water slides or even seen them open before

I agree that it’s definitely a more thrill focussed park but every good thrill park should also have a high quality family coaster. I also think a raptor would be great here, very unique to the area and would be awesome for marketing

More broadly, I think the park has suffered a lack of investment since the swarm so I’m over the moon with hyperia - I feel like this next decade should see more investment from merlin 2024: hyperia 2025: flat ride in the location where slammer used to be, with a theme consistent with hyperia so it can be its own sort of land separating the jungle with old town/lost city 2026: general park improvements 2027: family thrill multi launch, maybe even a family thrill launched spinning coaster like ride to happiness but less intense so it can have a 1.2m height restriction 2028: flat rides by the beach / or turn it into a chill area with bars/street food and music

I think this is a definite realistic plan - you’re correct in the drastic lack of investment in Thorpe it’s massively hurt the park in the past decade. Merlin do seem to be investing a lot in coasters and rides for their parks globally at the minute though so I think by 2030 Thorpe will definitely have some new flats, another coaster and some re themed areas

I would be suprised if Thorpe got a family coaster imo, they already have one and they deliberately rethemed it to make it more appealing to older audiences. With them getting rid of the Angry birds themeing aswell i really don't think it's likely.

I don’t think it’s likely but every major thrill park needs a high quality family area and coaster, something like pegasse express or storm chaser, a coaster that kids and enthusiasts can all enjoy

Yeah even though it’s a park that targets thrill seekers every park should have a high quality family coaster that even adults and thrill seekers can enjoy

Yes, like a wicker man 1.2m height restriction ride, as an example. I have a 7-year-old who loves rides but isn't tall enough for the 1.4 m rides

@@Goonersterling yeah exactly this is the reason why Thorpe needs a high quality family coaster - even though Thorpe is a thrill park it deserves a coaster and other supporting flat rides that kids and the family can enjoy. I hope you both enjoy your next visit to the parks!

Would love a big RMC hybrid behind the Swarm, as its the best possible place for one to go in the UK and greatly contrasts everything else in the park - short and powerful airtime, whippy zero G rolls and awesome outer-banking manouvres. I think a Gravity Group Family-Thrill wooden coaster would fit really well at Flamingo Land instead, as it also needs and all-round family coaster, and some airtime too.

Gravity group coaster at flamingo land would be a perfect new addition. I would love a hybrid at Thorpe it would be the perfect coaster in an ideal world however I can’t see it happening, I think if an RMC was to come to the uk then a raptor is more realistic personally

If thorpe had more space, id say throw them a new inbetween thrill coaster. because it goes flying fish, walking dead and then nemesis inferno. Walking dead is certainly more of a thrilling ride but its still a family coaster. If thorpe had space to add it, id put a new water coaster in place of rumba rapids. A nice large mack powersplash would be brilliant.

I would love either a GCI or and RMC behind swarm island, I just hope whatever it is has a decent layout and isn't just about breaking a record and nothing else.

Would you think that the park would be interested in a water coaster, or is Tidal Wave close enough to one to fit the bill? I am all for more wooden coasters being build anywhere and I'd love to see the UK get a new, big masterpiece of a ride. Gravity Group or GCI would be great. An Intanmin pre-fab wooden coaster would be good too, but they tend to be more pricey at the onset because of how the wood is pre-treated, so I don't think they'd go that way. A larger layout Wild Moose would be fun as well. I think something like a Vekoma Super Boomerang could be a blast for people too. Thrilling, but not extreme.

Thorpe has loads of water rides already so I can’t see them investing in a water coaster as cool as that would be for the UK. I also think a super boomerang would be a great cool new coaster but I would worry about capacity at thorpe

I agree with the GCI, but instead of the Intamin, I’d prefer a Mack Rides Xtreme Spinning Coaster, as they don’t have a spinner in their lineup and they are clearly working with Mack now given Hyperia. Whilst they are at it, they could even replace Storm Surge with a PowerSplash

sorry for the slow reply it’s been a busy few days in my personal life, I would love an extreme spinner at Thorpe, it would make one of the best 1-2 punches of any coaster lineup in the world, I can’t see it happening but you never know, now the park has a relationship with Mack rides let’s all pray this happens one day!

@@CoasternautYT it would be great for filling a gap in Thorpe’s lineup. I also think that an eventual Intamin LSM conversion and layout extension (with a vertical spike) of Stealth, as well as a new Intamin straddle or multi-dimension coaster inside TWD building would make sense👍

Agreed I think it’d be a perfect coaster for Thorpe, so unique to the uk and great airtime which the uk doesn’t really have. I think a raptor is more likely than a hybrid too

Dive coasters are very popular rides I just can’t see any other park in the uk getting one other than Blackpool because of oblivion, I think there’s lots more modern models which are more popular

Fanily coaster is a big no. Thorpe park is aimed at thrillseekers. We have enough family parks in the Uk like chessington and paultons park and legoland & Drayton Manor A woodie would be good but would love to see a RMC hybrid

I agree that Thorpe is definitely a thrill park but every good major thrill park has a high quality modern family area and coaster and Thorpe just doesn’t have this, and most modern family coasters are also great fun for thrill seekers too just look at storm chaser at Paultons park or mandrill mayhem. I would love an RMC here too, hybrid is the dream but I think a raptor is probably slightly more realistic

I personally think that thorpe doeant need to fulfill to all audiences due to their main market being teens and adults. So adding something like toutatis would be very good for the park maybe replace flying fish with a flat or a more thrilling ride in that area. even something resemeling zadra could boad well as thorpe does need some more airtime on coaster personally on the plot behind swarm connect that to stealth so the park can not be conjested at swarm island.

I agree thrills is the priority of Thorpe although personally I think every major park should have a high quality modern family coaster in their lineup. Agreed, I’m definitely going to do a video saying what Thorpe needs before it’s next coaster, this was just a dream video of what I would add after Hyperia. I can’t believe a park this big doesn’t have a proper sized hotel on site

@@CoasternautYTit's because it's a one day park for the majority of guests maybe if they keep expanding their line up they will build one, they did get planning permission for one before but not sure if that's expired yet.

@@Rabbitzz I agree it’s only a one day park but if you add a hotel and do combo tickets it’ll definitely bring in more guests for the park and tourists because it’s not too far from London which could help find future expansion to make it a larger destination park

I visited Thorpe park for the first time this year and it was dirty, security staff were rude and aggressive, it felt like at any time there would be a fight amongst guests. The rides were great don't get me wrong but Alton Towers is still the best and I've even put Pleasure Beach over Thorpe park

I agree that Alton is by far the best park in terms of immersion and atmosphere and theming but Thorpe (especially with Hyperia) is the best thrill park in the country. That doesn’t excuse the bad operations and quality of the park though I agree it’s in desperate need of TLC and has staffing issues

I don’t think it will, Merlin seem to be investing heavily in rides and coasters at all their parks recently so I think we will start to see lots more investment at Thorpe over the next few years. The past 10 years has been messy for the park but I think they’ll learn from their mistakes and before 2030 I think we’ll see old rides removed, some new flat rides and probably one more new coaster

I disagree with a family coaster. Thorpe Park is not aimed for families really. If you want family time go to Chessington World of Adventures. I think what the park needs is a hybrid RMC like Zadra ideally taller than Zadra just to take the record.
