The friendzone's not the same as "friends", so just be honest if you don't think a guy's relationship (or situationship) material. They'll either deal with it or walk away; or walk away and deal with it, and come back all smiles and back-slaps 🤷‍♂If you lose a good acquaintance in this way, you can always reach out and say you'd be more than happy to help him out in his dating life. That's like half of what friends are for, and there are plenty of benefits to having the perspective of a woman he finds attractive. When he sees the value of the friendship, he'll likely come to appreciate it for what it is. Don't take advantage of his feelings, and make it clear what your feelings and boundaries are. If you can coach him through his shortcomings, that's also great experience in how to support a future partner.
