WOW this guy is legend. This is actually the only proper help i could find. i managed to install custom firmware easily with another link but couldn't get anything to install on my 3ds. i followed this link reset my 3ds and installed the starter pack and yeah man got it to work. thanks so much

can confirm this works for 11.17 Edit: you can use Checkpoint to save every save file as long as you don't delete the checkpoint folder in the sd card

I've had this problem ever since I bought my New 3DS and swapped my ID over. It took so long I lost my savegames and all the management software with no clue how to reinstall without the app I'd need to install itself.

Yooo thanks man. I picked up my old 3ds the other day and all it had on it was twilight menu+. I thought I could just copy the back up files to my 3ds and everything would reappear, but it didn't. So I was scrambling for answers and I almost tried to re hack it but thankfully the guy said don't do it if your 3d is already hacked as it could brick..was also about to do gm9, but i'm glad I found this video. I did the select on power on check to see if it was still hacked and it was. Thanks for this vid I got all fbi and stuff back.

ok this fixed my 3ds after i had to format it. so i take back every negative thing i have ever said about you and i cast on you a thousand heart felt compliments in your general direction.

I already did this to my old 3ds because I was getting a new one, after I formatted it it still had cfw, so I had to go on godmode 9 to remove cfw

my *old 3ds* when connecting it opens the *godmode9* screen in version 1.8.0, only when pressing any button the screen resets. I can only access the home menu if I press L and hold for 3 seconds could help me solve this problem, I've tried everything. the *Rosalina Menu* when it opens it locks the console and I have to hold the power button until it turns off Thanks in advance :)

Question for you: when you format a 3ds, do the firm 0 and firm 1 partition normally get formatted/updated or changed? And does bootstrap9 prevent this? is this why console does not lose the mod? more interested in question 1, because I am trying to understand how I was able to restore hacked 3ds back to stock without having firm0/firm1 or even a unmodded nand back up. I followed the 3ds guide instructions to restore to stock and it worked. Would love to understand why I was able to.

Hey sthetix, I region changed a japanese 2ds xl to usa as soon as I started it up and installed cfw using your guides. It is a brand new minecraft creeper edition console and I have not installed any apps or games yet. Just did the region change. But I realize I forgot to delete the preloaded stuff that was on the japanese home menu, like the minecraft game. When I did the region change I dont see it anymore, but my sd card shows the title folder occupying about 1gb space. I assume those are apps/games that were on the 2ds xl before the region change. Is it safe to delete that folder if I don't want any of the pre-loaded stuff that came on the system, or does it also contain stuff that I might need on the US home menu? I just need to clear up some memory but I'm afraid I'll lose the system apps and cfw files needed in the US home menu.

My 3DS' SD card once had a read error, forcing it to be formatted, it caused my 3DS to be similar to this. It was a pain to get everything back, that's why I keep backups of the SD cards from my modded game consoles now.

As long as you have a boot.firm of Luma on the ctrnand,you can format the SD card aswell as the console.

Okay, i have a question and need a quick repsonse, i dont have an SD Card reader for my current computer, but my Modded 3DS currently has FTP file transfer, is it possible to transfer the required cia to the SD card via FTP before the Formatting takes place, then reinstall the cia via Godmode9? as i dont have any way to reinstall my homebrew apps if i go about formatting my 3DS so i can get Pokebank to work, since i need a new NNID linked to the device to do that

Hi stethix, some of the content of my 32gb SD card suddenly got deleted (it's now reduced to a 930mb). I suspect that my SD card was faulty/corrupted. I can still see all the apps on my home screen but none of them can be launched (including FBI, HBL, etc). However, In data management the app list is blank. Should I follow this guide if I plan to change my SD card? Thanks for you help
