It's all on Adam Peaty's mentality. Coming in as underdog might really suit him, give him someone and something to fight against, rather than just racing himself he is now fighting for his crown and legacy. He'll either want that fight or he'll not. Personally I'm hoping he does and comes in showing he's still the king.

I agree. It feels selfish, but I really want him to come back and show us the man that we saw win the 100 breast in 2019. However, his health comes first; I'm wishing nothing but the best for all of the athletes out there!

Hey Cody! Qin is pronounced "Chin", not a name you see a ton in the US but we should probably start getting it right before next summer lol

I could try to give pointers on how to pronounce Kamminga (with the first 2 syllables sounding like ‘Come in’ and the ‘ga’ is not a ‘k’ sound) but just giving kudos for effort.

The odds are stacked against Adam Peaty right now. In an Olympic year, anything can happen. Some dark horse from somewhere can pop up from nowhere to win. However, I still hope Adam Peaty can come out from all his troubles to make it a triple. That would be super cool and emotional.

At his all time best he’d be neck and neck with Qin. After taking some time off and not being fully in these last few years, you’re right he’s probably not the favorite for 2024. Qin has come outta nowhere with these crazy times.

Qin will probably take it. I see him going 57-low. Peaty wont be able to touch his best time but he will still medal cause a 57 high is doable for him. And my money would be on Martinenghi for third.

Some info worth knowing about kamminga. Ever since after the Olympics, his times haven't been amazing (especially considering he's one of the few swimmers under 57) and his times have generally been pretty inconsistent. His three way tie was a good surprise considering the "crappy year" he's been having as he quoted on his Instagram. This is why he's taking a compulsory half year break after worlds to reset his mindset and body in an attempt to get back to the level he was. Is it an amazing idea to take such a long break especially with the Olympics right around the corner?
@matthewtovey9771
@matthewtovey9771 10 ай бұрын
Kamminga did actually swim a 58:90 last year in December which would have been I guess just after he took his 5 month break. Is the fact that he was only just under 3 tents faster than this 8 months later at Worlds a bit concerning?
