i just bought a c&c cage! Im so ready to get it in the mail. I hope my new hedgie will appreciate it since he was living in a plastic tub his whole life (sad right?) I hate how little space people give their pets to live in.

This is a great video. The only thing is hedgehogs don’t like big spaces to run around, it makes them uncomfortable. If you want a big cage for them you just need to fill it with lots of things. That might be something to research. 💜

Yup! Meal worms, wax worms and crickets should be given in moderation... More like a treat than a full diet :) x

FYI some hamsters actually need more space then a hedgehog because they explore....so a biggest hamster cage should be fine. Hedgehogs like small spaces or their caged to be filled so they can feel safe

For the food pellets you can also use cat food high in protein and low in fat and it's very cheap

Our hedgehog used to have bottles instead of bowls. He liked his bottle and after I gave him a chance to used bowls he still seemed to like his bottle much much more. But then after a long time for keeping the bowls in (just in case) he actually started using them and never used the bottle again. He also used to put his paws on his food bowl, and the first time he used the bowl he tipped it over. After that he never did it again. Bowls can be much more comfortable for hedgehogs to use, especially as they are more natural and less straining for their neck. If you want to go more in-depth in this or just learn countless other reasons bowls can be beneficial reference “ Victoria Rachel” (that’s the channel name) Anyway watch her video “Bowls vs. Bottles”

Yup Thanks! I just love this type of cage havent seen it around (ready made) but I am sure I would be able to build it since I can find all the materials seperately. I do not live in the US and these in EU are not so popular xD! I just love that you can change the shape of it so the hedgie doesnt get bored or you can also make it bigger or whatever!

You should try using fleece, it's way easier for clean up. And better for them so they don't get respitory problems by breathing in the chips.

Would it be possible to cut down on the dustiness of some of the beddings (like Care Fresh or Aspen shavings) by sifting them in a flour sifter before they go into the cage?

about hibernation what if the room you have your hedgehog is in your bedroom and you have a cooler or cold room and it can't be fixed. would you buy two heating lamps for day and night

I read on hedgehog central that many hedgehog owners prefer fleece liners for bedding. What is your opinion on fleece for bedding ? I might go with fleece do to the simplicity of cleaning it and I do not have to constantly buy shavings. But I suppose you like shaving because it allows the hedgehog to tunnel, correct?

I am buying a complete package from the breeder including cage and everything. When I first get the cage (it's a lovely big, flat rabbit cage) do I put th blanket bedding down and then the litter material down over it in one corner? What do I do if th hedgehog doesn't use that area as a toilet.. D I move the soiled litter to teach him? Thanks

hi i think about buying a hedgehog but i have a question about the temprature you need to keep them at in my room it gets easely 25 degrees celcius(77 fahrenheit) and at minimum in the winter around 17 degrees celcius(62 fahrenheit) is that a problem do i need to buy a heat regulator for my bedroom?

yes. it would be wise. the 77 degree temp isn't too bad, but it's seems that it gets a little to cold in your room. that may cause the hedgehog to try to go into hibernation which can be deadly to them. they do not know how to do it correctly and can get seriously ill.
