So much truly professional knowledge once again. I put a 6.5-20x44 vortex on my 300 PRC. So many claim you need much more magnification. Seeing as what you said the old 1x for every 100yds stands strong for a baseline. Thank you both for teaching and demonstrating for us enthusiasts willing to learn this complex sport.

Mark, great video and information as always, I wanted to get your thoughts on true calibrate and budget, looking at something like 6.5 or above, that would still work with baseline environmental conditions if that makes sense, and a deselect rifle, that is not over the top to the point we’re budgetary unrealistic.

I'm always fascinated by your exploits. They are truly inspiring and awesome. That you can calculate the angle to adjust your shot to such a fine degree over such massive distances is far beyond my capabilities. I don't know if this is cheeky but I wonder if you would consider doing a night shoot using tracers? It would be incredible to see how much arc there is to your ELR shots. Just a thought.

Looking at 2nd hand rifles online some of the bigger Calibres are much cheaper than the smaller ones. Especially the adds saying minimal rage use. Which I'm putting down to the seller thinks the 300win mag sounds like a great idea to start but they buy as a first rifle and change there mind pretty quick. Honestly the 243 in super light hunting rifle has enough recoil for me for now

Hi Mark :) so I’m at a crossroad in my long range walk. I already own an RPR in 6.5 PRC, so that takes care of my sub-mile ranges, and now I’ll be purchasing a Savage 110 Elite Precision for my mile+ ranges- but I can’t decide between the 300 PRC and the 338 LM. I don’t reload so I’m stuck with factory stuff. The 300 PRC seems to do well, but factory ammo is more limited by far, but is also considerably cheaper. The performance of the 300 PRC supposedly tops the 338 LM after 2,000 yards, but I’m not sure how true that is. Just wondering what your opinion is on this situation. Thx. Love the videos.
@markandsamafterwork
@markandsamafterwork 4 жыл бұрын
Don't believe what they tell you, a well set up 338lm is a good step in front of a 300prc in outright performance and ELR capabilities, but all in the details, and still doesn't mean one is better than the other. Also all in the details, but the 300prc being less power and bullet weight is easier to shoot, and the with more power and bullet weight, the 338lm takes more to shoot, cost and effort..... and then there are another dozen cartridges you could put in the same bracket, lol. As for my opinion, that is what the video is all about.....Cheers

I came across your video while looking for a heavier shooting rifle for elk/moose. And I didn't even know about long rifles or heavy barrels. So, this is incredible!!! I love it! I'm looking to put together a 700 Remington that will shoot 300 WM cartridges. And I have been reading & writing your info down but I'm obviously missing critical info. I would love to get my lady & daughter into target shooting & she is the marksman in the family. Would it be possible to assist me into putting together a long shooting rifle that I could also sit in the open hunting If I choose to, with this starting configuration: Without breaking the bank? Say, under $2,000~ dollars. 1 - 1-1/2 miles range 700 Remington bolt----$650~ 300WM cartridge----. Even if u don't have time or can't read all these responses, I have put your videos on prescribed & I'm watching as many of your shooters & info's as possible. Currently living in Florida. Oh, I refuse to shoot a 6.5 Creedmoor...lol I can support u through your channel for your help. BE BLESSED. BOTH OF U!!

Hi Mark, great content as usuall :) I have been watching your channel for some time now and I' m a big fan. I was thinking of getting into long range precission myself. The largest shooting distance in my country is a military range available for civilians during long range competition - 1650 m (1805 yards) I was thinking of competing there with: Tikka T3x Tac A1 6.5 creedmoor Primary arms 6-30 Athena BPR scope (27 mil elevation) Spuhr 0moa mount. Would that be a viable build or would you consider something in different caliber, different scope? I' m beggining my adventure with long range and plan on competing at those distances not sooner than in a year or two after gaining some experiance on shorter distances. Would love to hear your feedback. Greetings from Poland

I’m asking this question out of my own lack of knowledge but you are one of very few people that I see using a suppressor. I watch a lot of different long range shooting videos and most of them if not all are using suppression. It’s my understanding this is because it adds some , but not much velocity to the round. Is this true or a myth. If a suppressor slows down the round then why use one?
@markandsamafterwork
@markandsamafterwork 3 жыл бұрын
We don't use them for several reasons, not the least of which is they are not legal here. As for benefits, it depends on the details, but they can increase velocity, they can improve groups, and to many they make shooting more pleasant, and they look cool..... but as said , all in the details, they also don't control recoil as well as a muzzle brake, but maybe ask folks that use them, Cheers
