Extremely informational as always! Great timing since many here in the US are just getting into reloading due to ammo shortages. Little do new reloaders know that this can be a deep rabbit hole into OCD development rather than load development.

Also, you're going to find that ammo shortages are never corrected by reloading because reloading components are just as scarce as ammo is when a shortage comes along. Reloading is good for saving a little bit of money on what it cost to reload compared to buying factory ammo. A gain in accuracy is the main reason most people reload.

That was a great video. I like that you say that it all boils down to the shooter. I just came back from the range, zeroing, and doing load development for some Berger 210's, and Woddleigh 180s. I have a 3 shot group of 1/4 inch with my Bergers, and I was telling my brother about seating depth, and trying to tighten the group up....and, to make a long story short..he ask's me what wrong with that group...and made me realize...its not my load development I need to work on...its my shooting fundamentals..

Making the rifle and nut behind the trigger work well is critical, like you rightfully point out. I try everything but want to mention a few of my best upgrades the last few years. Your adjustable base and shooting mat are some of my best investments. We try to make very small bullets go very far with reasonable consistency and hitting the plate with a 308 or 260AI at 2000 + yards is our game. The adjustable bag base made a significant difference in our game and adding your shooting mat a few weeks ago rounded that out nicely. Happy New Year to you from a wintery Central Valley of California

Some beginners may get confused by terminology toward the front of the talk when the word “collet” was used when I am fairly sure you meant bushing. The Lee Collet Dies are great dies, but not to be confused with the bushing dies. Good talk and great perspectives based on experience. Hope you and Sam have a Healthy and Happy New Year!

Happy New Yes My Friends!! Love the Annealez product. A forecasted 2021 purchase for me. On the die I’ve added a k&w arbor press and using LE Wilson dies for my 6CM and 6.5X284 Norma. Also purchased a 6mm Dasher set but waiting for the rifle build to be completed. Have noticed better ogive to base lengths as well as concentricity after trimming neck thinkness. My best to you and Sam. Back in the donation side of things once things level out financially.

I've been wanting to get into reloading just to tinker with hunting loads and I like to play at range with some of my hunting rifles but there's a bunch of videos where they're all using progressive presses or latest/greatest wiz bang stuff that make it seem like if you're not using it you're not going to be able to make good bullets. I've been slowly piecing together some stuff but haven't invested in the few main items but I think you made my mind up and just going to go with a single stage press and some good dies and see where that gets me... All great stuff. I feel like I've got a system I'm happy with, I'm kinda on a speed kick. Not crazy fast but I'd like to take out some of the slack in my process. I've enjoyed using expander mandrels but I think it's asking a lot of a single stage press in time alone. I've found that the inline fabrication case ejector speeds things up a lot but limits the LA calibers (especially if you have the bullet seating collar that drops down) I think I'm moving towards a dillon 550c, just where I'm at in life, family, work etc.

I have been waiting for this video for a long time. You referred to many reloading dilemmas many of us have. I see all these people spending days or even weeks in their reloading rooms doing all the unnecessary stuff. As far as I can see these are not the guys who are winning the competitions. I am wondering whether turning necks if you are buying Lapua or Peterson brass is really necessary.

I like your practical approach Mark. Lots of nonsense and black magic marketing in reloading. I think your results speak for themselves. I'm going to take a leaf out of your book and keep it simple and just use the end results, average over time, as my gauge.

Can a high pressure round loosen primer pockets? I don’t use max charge but there are flattened primers and on my last batch a few of the primers tilted after firing. Rim heads on some have the plunger markings on them. It also hard to lift bolt. The tilted primers have me perplexed the most.. And again I don’t max charge, rather I go in between min/max range. I’m wondering if this may be a head space issue and should have lugs lapped and chamber wall polished a bit. I’m no expert and am wondering what you might think.

Is it worth the effort trying to use my old federal brass that I have been saving for many years? Or is it better to just start with premium brass and not have the headaches?

I see a little Hornady scale on your bench mate ... do you actually use it? Mine is notoriously inaccurate and BTW what is your go to device for powder measurement / weights?

Balance beam scales are the most accurate. If you check out the automatic measures you can read how they are +or- x. ?
