Is Hunza home to Pakistan's smartest people?
Today's adventure takes us late into the night, as we head to a festival that's celebrating the women of Hunza Valley. I'm joined again by my guide Mudasir, and together, we meet a host of amazing and friendly locals, who tell us some extraordinary facts about Hunza, Passu, and its people. After sipping some chai and chatting with our new Pakistani friends, we take a quick break at the Yak Grill to try my first ever yak steak and yak burger. Finally, we head back to the women's festival to enjoy dancing and live music.

People in Northern areas which is mainly from Gilgit to hunza to other few regions are the most educated. Literacy rate is 95%.Our region places highest stress on education and skilled worker training. Every household has females who are highly educated and more are independent conparitive to many European countries. Crime rate is lowest and hospitality is the best highest value in regard. We pride ourselves in keeping our region clean, away from chaotic stressful life. Our values include working as a community and be self sufficient. I think that's why people are attracted because we do highly regard our traditions and culture. ❤❤❤❤❤

Although English is Pakistan's official language but Urdu is spoken and understood across the country. But this is inspiring that those people in mountains far from the major cities of Pakistan seem well educated and able to understand and speak English language, although in the rest of the country all the educated people can speak and understand as well.

I was in north few months ago and believe me this lady is very right.People of northern are so polite, kind and very educated especially girls as compared to other provinces and beautiful too. Mind blowing. I have traveled entire Pakistan. I loved it. People from cities are very different from northern. Northern hospitality is at the top simply amazing. Everyone offers you a tea and food. I am from Karachi and I didn’t like Lahore at all. Too much crowd, pollution and very congested though I loved Multan, Islamabad and Peshawar most but Northern is epic.

@@baddie21358 Lahori aren’t but Karachi are mostly indian people because Karachi is mostly populated by muhajir people indian migrants from UP and Bihar india and they share the same dna as them. The “Lahori” lady in the video looked more like a muhajir to me than a Punjabi

They’re the most progressive because they were the last people in Pakistan to be converted to Islam and are the least Islamic. They are very much a product of the ancient Silk Road, and they are connected with other people and cultures of Central Asia. These people really remind me of the people of Tajikistan 🇹🇯. I can’t compare them with people from Afghanistan 🇦🇫 because Afghans are too Islamic and radicalized. Gilgit Baltistan is very much a gateway to Central Asia.

@Cpt. Mirza Baig It isn’t. Do the research. Your grandmother is just one individual. I’m referring to the ENTIRE REGION AND PEOPLE of Gilgit Baltistan. They remind me of the Kailash people. These people were following Buddhism or their own animist beliefs before they were converted to Islam. They’re not that Islamic. They kind of remind me of people from Tajikistan 🇹🇯. Pakistan and Afghanistan are EXTREMELY Islamic.

Well although this video was published in January 2023 but the festival was on 20-23 October 2022 as per on the big board right behind the stage. Those steaks seemed so delicious and would love to visit Hunza to have them. And that warm chai was amazing too.

I think some of the people of the northern region in Pakistan and Kelaash (Chitral KPK) are decedents of Macedonia who came with the Alexzander The Great. So they are different in look. Although Pakistan is a country where you can find diversity in cultures, languages and customs.

Only people of Kelaash have ancestry of Alexander, Wakhi language is Eastern Iranian which is similar to Pashto which is also Eastern Iranian and people are very similar to persian and Caucasian

I am Sicilian (south Italy) and when I go to Hunza with my Hunzukutz husband and I wear the same clothes of women in Hunza nobody knows I am Italian everybody thing I am from another village. So yes the people of Hunza look like Mediterranean people exactly same face.

That lady was a little over the top, going on about differences. You get educated people all over the place. In my family, we had people from all over Pakistan... So you can get even European looking folk there in Pakistan, in India, in Bangladesh and everywhere else. Some people try to fetishize race colour, but in the end it really doesn't matter, because we are just one human race, family. ✌️

Hunza has a literacy of 100% with 90% speaking English. I don't think other parts of Pakistan have achieved that.

I think Brent was so confused, thing is colorism is wildly accepted and promoted in South Asia. They think the beauty standard is being white. So, the northerners look down upon other provinces considering themselves to be better looking because they are light skin, and then the southern people look down upon india, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for being lighter than them. Then the whole of Pakistan looks down upon other south Asian countries since they consider themselves to be the lightest amongst them. Brent was genuinely a bit confused and shocked. His reply was really graceful that everyone is beautiful. That woman was so oblivious to her colonial mindset that she didn’t think promoting colourism was wrong and discriminatory.

They are. Gilgit Baltistan is very much part of Kashmir. Made more sense to be part of United India than an artificial construct called “Pakistan” (which is about to collapse and break up anyway).
