Censtudios I remember learning that there are specialized sensory cells in the rectum or anus, but I don’t remember anything specific ☹️ I do know that certain medications can inhibit those cells and basically a side effect of the medication can be that you can never trust a fart while taking the meds.

Did not mean to sound like I was dismissing your question! I think it is fascinating how our bodies do all sorts of things that we don’t even know it does and we just take for granted.

I was in a class for Clinical Lab Sciences where my professor talked about collecting body fluid samples. One story she shared was of a patient from which they tried to get a stool sample. Each time they tried, the sample outgassed so much that the bag would explode before it reached the testing site. They even raced a sample to a clinical refrigerator and shut it in there, but the sample still exploded. Suffice it to say that this patient was a challenge to get a stool sample from.

We are very happy to have an efficient septic system, which we respect, and we love the fact that it's eventually and essentially a poop compost system for our yard. Love and respect your septic! It will love you, too!

I'm glad you mentioned the composting to fertilizer thing, more people need to know about this, as it keeps tons of useful material out of landfills which we are running out of, and so much of our soil is so depleted we really need the improvements it in China, raw uncomposted or treated sewage is used to fertilize fields, which is quite dangerous (so be mindful of where your produce is imported from!)

That's what I was gonna say; manure is very different than human feces. We have so many more bacteria and toxins in our fecal content that butt to under foot is not a good idea...stick to manure from grazing herbivores.

Something interesting about E. coli is that because it's a very diverse species of bacteria, with loads of different strains, a lot of the time one that makes you sick may be a strain that exists harmlessly in the body of someone else - this is the main reason why it's so important to practice good hygiene, as just because the stuff on your skin and in your gut might not make you ill, it can easily cause serious problems for everyone else.

I wonder, does capsaicin resistance lessen your sensitivity to actual heat? If you eat spicy food a lot can you also tolerate hotter coffee? And if so could that lack of pain response result in a subdued reaction to actually harmful stimuli?

Here in Aus "black water" and "grey water" go into separate tanks as "grey water" is often pumped out to be used on gardens and trees... non-consumable plants... and "grey water" tank lines tend to have a "filter" off of the kitchen which traps fats and food waste and is easier to clean out. To help with both systems [black water and grey water] I use products from Biomaster which seem to have worked.

Laura Vance they mentioned in the video that some people don’t experience it because they gain a sort of tolerance to it so their body stops reacting. I also don’t get burning poops from spicy food though and never have 🤔
