I literally just finished the trilogy and had to watch your spoilery review. I don't know how Robin Hobb does it, but I feel so much for these characters, esp. Fitz and the fool. I also have to say that Nighteyes' last scene was one of the most heartbreaking and most beautiful scenes I've ever read! The way she described it was just stunning. I just want Fitz to be happy...

IMO, this is the best of the three trilogies I have read so far, and if the Liveship trilogy continues the same (about halfway of the second book), my opinion will not change. Yes, I first read the three FF trilogies, and then I have returned to the first "interlude". TBH, I think you are too hard on Starling, as she was working for Chade, wasn't she? And she did give some comfort to a man that otherwise was mostly disconnected from the world. About the ending - just loved it! This was the happy future Fitz had always wanted - he had dreamt about this his entire life, and now he had it. Well, without his wolf companion, of course, so it sure was a bittersweet ending.

Cass, thank you for your heartfelt review. The emotions that Robin Hobb makes her readers feel is amazing and your thoughts on the passing of Nighteyes brought a year to my eyes. How anyone reading these books and not crying at his passing, has to have a heart of stone! The Fits books are my favourite fantasy books by far. I love the world of the Six Duchies and the characters we meet. I am emotionally invested in Fitz and all of those close to him. I lose myself in them completely 😊

I just finished this 10 min ago. I’m beyond happy. I absolutely loved this trilogy so much. By the time I got to fools errand I was surprised by how quickly I fell in love with it. Fools Errand is my favorite book of the whole series. This trilogy is by far the best of the first 3 trilogies. I’m stoked to start Rain Wild quad. ✌🏻❤️

It's so hard to do spoiler free reviews of these books and I just finished it and you did a good job. BUT I'm excited for the spoilers. It's hard not to root for Fitz and your heart just breaks for him every step of the way. I'm SO EXCITED FOR YOU TO GET TO FITZ AND THE FOOL just there's a lot that happens and you're going to die (in every way). Starling is so frustrating 95% of the time. Starling is all about herself and yes she was there for Fitz for a time, but god I don't like her. Fitz owes her NOTHING. Chade pisses me off so much sometimes. But I love how complex his and Fitz's relationship is. That's one incredible thing about RotE. I love that Robin Hobb spans Fitz's entire life. It's not something I feel like we see in fantasy a lot, but I love it. Dutiful is adorable. The Verity/Chivalry sword scene KILLED me. Just wait until the last trilogy. I can't wait for you to get there. Fitz and Molly being content at the end. I liked it, but also it's so telling that it's "content" vs. "happy". There are so many phenomenal characters in Tawny Man. Nighteyes broke me too. I'm still not over it. I SOBBED and I've seen art and things of that scene and I will never not cry. THOUGHTS ON THE FOOL?! You're going to want to skip over Rain Wild DON'T DO IT there's a lot that happens in that quartet that shapes the last trilogy in so many ways. Great discussion Cass! Just finished Tawny Man trilogy. My mum is reading Assassins Quest, talking about Nighteyes and I could barely breath forcing my smile (hiding my grief). I loved everything you said, I root for Fitz every time. No one else I know has read this book, watching your video was so therapeutic, thankyou x

I so agree about this being a love letter to the Farseer trilogy. Though Fool's Errand was my least favorite of the trilogy, I still really loved it. UGH Starling. She's so frustrating.

I got so tired of Thick. I know he was the conduit for Fitz to reach out to Nettle and it's how she gets drawn into the plot, but I resented how all Fitz's time is taken up with being his care taker.

Robin Hobb! She just trampled your heart and tips it to pieces and then puts it back together better than it was, but wow, what a GRUELING process!

I totally agree with feeling Fool’s Errand belongs to the Farseer trilogy. I didn’t think I was unsatisfied until after I started Fool’s Errand. After being away from Fitz during the Liveship Traders - it felt so amazing to be back with the Farseer characters. I can’t decide if Tawny Man or Liveship is my favorite. But I like Fitz the best so I can’t fairly decide lol. I also can’t go back and rate each book without being biased. Just five stars all around! Also, Nighteyes. I can’t even handle it! I cried like a baby even though it was so obvious. I finished the entire series last month and I’m still on a high from it! I am already itching for a reread lol. Are you planning on jumping into the short stories that go along with the novels?

How do you review the Tawny Men trilogy without mentioning the Tawny Man?! Sorry but for me The Fool was the best thing about this trilogy, he was just so lovable and entertaining.

starling actually saved him from death... i hate her personality but she did actually save him and she is probably the only one there that wants him to claim his true title (not because she wants that for the best of him but she wants that for her - to be known as the minstrel who was there in those adventures and effected the outcome) , also starling was once his only connection to the outside world for 15 years, i don't like her but she is part of that story

I was rooting for Starling only after Hap started to go back to Sanja. Bc I thought she’d help him with that but it turns out she helped him in a much better and bigger way. I hope she’s gone from the books now though. Ugh. What a mean selfish ass she is.
