I think you underrated Soul Partition, the fact that it can hit any nonland permanent makes it super versatile. You can also cast it on your own stuff to do them again, Dockside is the most obvious example, and you don't have to pay the extra 2 yourself.

Where’s magic missles and lithomatic barrage? Such great answers to all the value pieces on the board. And also mystic subdual/eaten by piranhas/witness protection/kenriths transformation. All these cards completely shut down commanders key pieces they can’t recast them, they are stuck until they find and answer. The amount of times people have wasted tutors to find answers to remove these to unlock ob nixilus, kennen, sissay etc. using a tutor--> then using removal takes time and resources and they use those key resources to find answers to a dumb problem vs wincons. Also a classic a little more expensive to cast but highly effective is oubliette

Alchemist retrieval would see zero play if the card actually worked the way you both think. The card does make lists. At 3 mana.. it would most def not. It’s an either clause. It’s 2 mana bounce or hit your own thing for 1. It’s deece.
