[Hi-Fi Mono] The initial song performed on this occasion, with the house band providing musical support for Mr. Zevon. One of his earliest "signature" songs from his long career, captured here.
Apologies for the slight hum in the signal. This was always present in the recording/broadcast, I'm afraid.

Naw the R&R hall could in no way fit this man in to it's paltry hall. Warren Zevon was on another level. It would demean him to suggest he had only obtained "POP" status!

This is what I came back to after the sad news of David Sanborn's passing. I am already a Zevon fanatic, but David's sax brings a sexier edge to this song, as if it wasn't already sexy in a rocking way. Rest in Peace to two talents. May they perform an encore of this in Heaven.

Yep, as soon as I heard about David's passing, I remembered that Warren ( one of my favourite artists ever ) had done some cool live appearances on his show .. Like you, I went straight to this video .. What a terrific version .. RIP to both these great artists

As everybody says ...under-rated songwriter. But don't forget his voice! So strong, unique and distinctive.....oh, and of course, his sense of humour. I was lucky to see him at a dive in Adelaide, South Australia. No band. Just him with Guitar and Piano. Fantastic.

Had to stop by and revisit this, we all never knew that the the Masterpiece that is "Lawyers, Guns and Money" could be improved, but David Sanborn's Sax takes it to another level. May they both Rest Peacefully.

His songs have an emotional urgency with a driving rhythm. Recognizable style that is still valid and valuable to this day. One of the best songwriters.

Absolutely. I feel most with Warren when my anxiety disorder flared up - body tightness, extreme irritabilit. Makes sense bc he had severe OCD

I miss the days when a plethora of shows like this competed with each other to bring out amazing musical geniuses who very often turned out to have very little common sense and not great survival skills. You Tube has opened the door to a past that many of us almost forgot existed. They were truly better and more innocent times. My humbleThanks.

He did a show at the train station in South Boston, and I heard about it but was a stupid kid at the time and I didn’t appreciate like I do now. It’s on KZfaq and I appreciate now

My first memory of WZ was when he came to Australia in 1978 to promote " Werewolves of London" and then about 10 years later WZ brought out "Splendid Isolation " . Years later I would wear out two Best of WZ songs CD . A great singer / songwriter

Saw Warren in concert more than I saw any other artist. Saw him with full bands and solo. Always entertaining. Great songwriter. And, gotta say, what a tight band.

My uncle was a DJ on a college rock show and I tagged along, he played this from his own collection, was a fan ever since-1978 around-had every album and saw him live on the Detox tour in Chicago

I managed to spend some time with Warren in Hilton Head Island. He was kind, funny and scary. Needless to say I owe him a great debt. His music never failed to guide me to somewhere eerily wonderful.

I only heard of Warren Zevon when Werewolves Of London was regular play on radio, I went and picked up the album, finding so much more. I've been a fan since. I didn't know that he was ill until Letterman. He seemed to have been such a down to earth and humble man. A true American artist.

One of my best friends and I loved this song as one of our favorites. He’s been gone now for almost 4 years and I miss him dearly. He lived mostly in Arizona and me in Ohio but whenever this song came on on the radio we would call each other and BLAST it no matter what time day or night! God I miss that special bond! RIP Johnny!

i was wandering around austin texas in the early 80s trying to figure out who i was when i first heard this song......some how it helped me to get my bearings.....still have three cassettes of warren.....always loved his tunes and he seemed like a totally nice guy.....sanborn could wail also

I miss Warren Zevon. Many years ago he played in St Petersburg, Fl , downtown Detroit Hotel , standing room only . I found I was next to his piano getting pushed here and there by the packed room. ( Can’t believe the Fire Marshal didn’t bust the place. ) Warren had a drink and a cigarette in his hand his entire performance, but oh what a performance! So talented!

Warren Zevon was such a interesting, talented, monster of rock. He needs to be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I'm shocked that he isn't already in it. Somewhere, in the afterlife, there's a band needing an old time ivory tickler with a wicked sense for twisted storytelling.... Loved his final album, the Wind. Keep Me In Your Heart is one of a group of songs that I want played during my wake. Miss him a bunch.
