I met her on my 33rd birthday, Sept 27, 1981, at Whompopper's Restaurant at Universal Sudios. She was there celebrating her daughter Natasha's birthday. Natalie introduced me to Natasha and she was very warm and friendly to me and wished me Happy Birthday. I was devastated when she died two months later.

There’s no way I would’ve bothered her during dinner, but had I finished before her and she was still at her table, I might’ve gone up to her and told her how much I love her movies. Interesting thing about Natalie Wood is that I think many people think that despite her beauty, there were many as pretty or prettier. There weren’t.

Long but worth the read for the information...And don't forget, This Property is Condemned. And Inside Daisy Clover. She mentioned them, but they were great movies. I dont remember any of her other movies once she grew up. Except Splendor. Never saw her childhood acting. Mary Badham who played her little sister in This Property is Condemned had also played the part of Jean Louise Finch aka Scout in To Kill a Mockingbird. Another favorite movie of mine as a child. Natalie, as Alva Starr, in This Property is Condemned ,did a scene with Mary ( as Willie Starr ), where she told a whopper about going all the way to Memphis on a date to the Peabody Hotel for Dinner and Dancing and saw the little ducks they run in the halls to go swim in that little pond in the lobby. I didnt believe that was real because between her and Robert Redford ,who played Owen Legate, added another animal to the pond story. I was 8 or 9 when I first saw it. Well when we took a trip a few years back in my 50s to The Peabody Hotel after visiting a friend in Memphis. Being such a huge fan of Natalie's I absolutely HAD to stay at the Peabody Hotel ! Imagine my surprise when I found out they really did bring the ducks down in the elevator and walk them down a red carpet to the pond where they swam around !!! 🥰❤❤❤ Oh the Joy!!! I kind of tear up thinking back to that day. The other animal was NOT there ,of course lol. But the 2 rubber ducks, stamped Peabody Hotel , in cellophane in our room were most definitely purchased by me . Even their bathroom soap is in the shape of ducks. Absolutely wonderful breakfast. Classy dining room. I could have spent the day and evening and another night there just rambling around looking at antiques and the little museum. Sadly not 1 mention of Natalie . But I would have loved to try their lunch and dinner. To see the ducks, check what time they bring them down. Its in the morning so make sure you ask when you check in. And get up to the second floor balcony over the front desk side and get a good view of the pond and elevator. It was special to this older lady, because I had loved Natalie in that love story so much all my life and here I was where she, as her character, wanted to go so badly. I wonder if Natalie ever actually visited there or not. Do Valet parking unless you are very fit. You will get to walk across a glass elevated hallway from the parking garage to the hotel if you are up for it. Pretty views at night . Yes, I still have my pair of yellow duckies from the Peabody sitting in my bathroom at home. RIP Natalie . You were so beautiful and such a good actress and I know your sister Lana loved you dearly. Or is it Llana? She wrote a book or 2 about Natalie. I feel the way she has publicly stated she feels. But can't bring myself to read the book(s). I want to remember Natalie as young and beautiful and happy . God will take care of the rest. Oh my word! I just found out Mary Badham went to play in To Kill a Mockingbird after decades of having a normal life. And am tickled that she played Mrs.Duboise. lol Watch the movie and you will see why I laugh.

Although we don't know for sure--I suspect it's true. For some reason I never could stand to see his face, because of what he may have done.

Yes, her death still doesn't set well with me. She was terrified of water and drowns? It makes no sense. She was smart and classy. I hope someday the authorities finally get it right, but think public opinion about it has managed to shun her husband especially since we don't see him much on the screen anymore!
