It is lovely to have lovely local shops. Sadly our towns are dying more rapidly than ever and customers aren't the issue. Our 'local' shops are 1/2 hour away and our buses run every 2 hours then stop at 6pm. So. Its a 3 hour round trip to do a return or to buy local. We have some farmers who deliver eggs and honey and a community veg box scheme but that's about it.

What an enjoyable natter….had you on in the kitchen whilst i made a chickpea and sweet potato curry. I think those spice boxes are a swiz but your other freebies were worth having as well as the Wild bundle. I use Wild,really like it though as everyone says the bottom inch has to be manually pulled out which is a big pain. Totally agree that having to wait for delivery’s, that puts me off internet shopping unless I know it’s something that will go through the letterbox.I also like to look at what I am buying and see the quality I also like to support local businesses, it really makes me cross that people don’t shop locally then moan when we loose the shops.

I started using Wild last year and I love it. When you get to the end of the refill there's still quite a bit left in it. So when you remove the old one, keep it and hold it between your fingers so you can use what's left. ❤

One needs to read the small print for sure, talking about small, those soap bars... Shrinkflation going too far. I visited Ikea yesterday with a friend. We started the day with breakfast, at a "member" price, quite affordable. Then the reason we went there, to get led light bulbs. They had 3 for 2. Got a little plant and some candles.. Its never just one thing at Ikea.. Anyway, their big brown paper shoppingbags, they had shrunk too! I use those for recycling paper, what a disappointment! Please do a review on the deo. I will consider that if it is good. 🙂

Amazon and the supermarkets all give a 1 to 2 hour delivery and send emails or texts to say when they will arrive. Of course, any issues are a nightmare.

Tha simply cook recipe boxes are used regularly in our home. My daughter pays the subscription I personally wouldn’t get it. In its favour it’s been a great way to introduce new menus to our weekly meals, it’s a great way to try out recipes we wouldn’t normally try as buying all the spices for a recipe we might not like would be astronomical. If we love the recipe we can then get the ingredients we need to make them in the future. It’s widened our food experience without the full cost of a takeaway

Hiya Vivi. I've been using the Smol kitchen cleaner for almost a year now. Love it. Once you decide to receive a regular supply you can change delivery weeks or month or whatever suits you if you find you need more or less of the little tablets. They come through the letterbox so no need to be at home. Fussy deodorant is great too and also comes with a reusable case. I especially like that the little wrap part that holds the product is compostable. (I can do similar with them too with regard to ordering- so more usage in the summer and less in the winter for me.) I have ultra sensitive skin and the basil, lime and mandarin does not upset my skin.

Stupid question, but, how do you use a shampoo bar? Do you rub the bar on your hair or do you lather it up in your hands and rub it in?

I’m a fan of simply cook meals. Each recipe is for 2 or 4 people depending on food quantity you buy. I will say I was initially making for 2 but using the full pots and found them too strong. Now I make 4 and flavours are lovely. I often get free boxes as if you share link they will allow you to get a free box.

I really like Tru Earth laundry sheets. I have a packet sent every three months which is plenty as I live alone. I love that it comes in a flat, thin cardboard packet. I also use bar shampoos and conditioner that I just get from Amazon. They seem to last me forever too but I only wash my hair about twice a week now that it's gotten so dry. I started using bar soap again too, after many years of liquid in plastic pump containers. My bathroom sink is now starting to clog really bad. Trying to use boiling water to clear it out instead of the harsh chemicals but so far not working. I'd hate to go back to using all that plastic again.

I had to laugh about the child proof packaging. Most children would have had that box open in under five seconds but adults take much longer. 😂😂.

The idea of not buying something that is reduced and on offer is very enticing...but you are right, I never buy anything in the sales...or even yellow sticker supermarket reductions unless I actually NEED it...there is no point buying 5 bags of salad for 10p each if they will go off before you can eat them!

Vivi, the wild deodorant refills are available in quite a few high street shops tesco, superdrug, sainsburys, boots and holland and barrat. I normally pay five or six pounds for a refill. Xx

Wrap the unused cakes in plastic wrap, it might dry out. I've had to toss a couple that I overstocked on a great price.

Hi the Gruum shampoo bar is £9 for 50g the conditioner are £10 for 50g. The orange body bar is really lovely it’s an exfoliating one and yes that is the trial size one. You can get them cheaper if you sign up to the subscription. I am yet to find a shampoo bar that suits my very long curly fine stranded thick hair but this was definitely one of the better ones I have to say. I would pay £20 a bar if I could find one that worked I’ll be honest. Also the wild deodorant I think is also a trial size for the refill hence the size of the box.

I did chuckle when you said flavours. It’s good to try new deodorants,specially if you’re pleased with their performance and are value for money.

I subscribed to the smoll washing up liquid. It came with a pump action to fit on the plastic bottles. I couldn't use it because of the arthritis in my hands. I decanted it into a normal washing up liquid bottle and used their bottles for other things. Then they changed the packaging to tetra pac which can't be recycled in my area. At this point I gave up and cancelled the subscription. The liquid itself was only fair in quality and it was quite expensive so I felt like the negatives outweighed the positives.

I dont get on with wild, I'm allergic to something in their recipe. Tried loads but always end up going back to Mum in the glass bottle. One bottle lasts a year.

Don't use deodorant and don't need it. A shower a day and not being someone who sweats all that much ... although antiperspirant would be much more useful in really hot weather if it didn't cause a rash.

I think the gruum soap is 90gr for £8 ish..... I like those soaps you mentioned ages ago by Tiggy and keep going back to her website to be honest .. what a swizz those recipe boxes... I would have been misled too, especially by the pics. Just looked at the introduction to the website and quote" How It Works . Flavour ingredients & recipes to cook incredible meals" I would have been thrown by that, it could be phrased much better.

I found that Wild deodorant melted in hot weather and I didn’t like it at all. I much prefer The Natural Deodrant Co, works a lot better for me.

My daughter uses the Wild deodrant and really likes it. I think the refills are available in Boots x

The deodorant looks delicious Vivi. I've never heard of them. I just use castor oil with a little essential oil these days but a special one like that would be a great treat for an outing.

Don’t apologise for a long video, you got me through a huge pile of ironing! I use Wild, the only thing I find annoying is that there is still a lot left in it when it is “finished” so for about a week I’m having to scoop out some paste with my finger. I didn’t get on with Smol multi surface but I like their bottle, it sprays a really fine mist, I’m now using Purdy and Fig and it goes a really long way and smells divine.

HAVE you ever thought of getting a disability stair lift put into your stairwell, and just pay for that instead? There are even charities that could help or crowd funding. It costs nothing to see how much it would cost.

A narrower box may go through the letter box too.

I'm shocked you only received spices..... did you read reviews of the service first? I've been hoodwinked more than once. I've learned to dive deep into reviews to avoid disasters like this. Have u come into my feed not because of frugal shopping/ideas - but actually because u know Sean? Iits just too much of a coincidence that u both like allotments & Rusty the allotment cat??? The story about the postman and the Wild box made me laugh :) I think the soaps for £3 are not bad value - I've seen a lot of shampoo bars of various sizes for over £5-6. £7 is really pushing it though for any bar, in my view. The spices, like you, I wouldn't bother with again. Most people have enough spices at home to make these meals. The deodorant purchase sounds good. I suppose it depends on how quickly the fragrance inserts last (Ocean Mist or whatever it was called sounds lovely; I love sea/fresh air fragrances). Can we have an update sometime on the deodorant, please (if you feel like it)? Interesting to view this. I also think getting these things through the post for someone that is very strict with treating herself must have felt nice, like opening presents. It would for me as I don't buy myself much (although saying that, coincidentally, I was thinking of buying myself some Inis perfume, which has a really lovely fresh smell about it. Like you I don't buy myself perfume usually).
