What would you do when you think no one is watching? What Would You Do? (WWYD?) explores the varying answers with the help of hidden cameras capturing individuals who have been placed within seemingly everyday situation that quickly go ary. The individuals on this hidden camera show are forced to make tough calls when directly faced with situations of racism, violence, hate crimes, and other hot button cultural issues. Catch John Quinones reporting on these individuals as they make split-second decisions to intervene or mind their own business. WWYD? airs Friday nights at 9|8c on ABC.
What Would You Do? (WWYD) is a hidden camera show, hosted by ABC News correspondent John Quinones, in which unknowing bystanders are placed in uncomfortable, and often compromising real world scenarios in public. WWYD’s hidden cameras focus on the average person’s responses and reactions to these issues of social responsibility. Topics such as gay couples being affectionate in public, date rape, racism and racial profiling, interracial couples, abusive parents, drunk driving, and harassment of the homeless are touched upon in this series. What will you do? Would you choose to intervene in these situations? Watch and join the discussion.

I lost it at the lady who lost her husband. I can't imagine the depths of grief to loose your partner, change your whole way you thought you'd live out your life and having all those holidays ahead still yet to be hard, and still being able to be so enthusiastically excited to see the tree the little girl picked out. She was genuinely invested in that family's life changing by doing an act of kindness, even when life hadn't been fair in taking her person she loved too soon. Omg, it still crying, it hurts my heart so much and yet gives me a hope in some humanity.

This happened to me...except involving my son and a pumpkin. He loves carving pumpkins. I only had $5 and I could only get a small pumpkin. Someone I didn't know and actually didn't even see gave the pumpkin patch worker $10 for me to get my son a bigger pumpkin. It wasn't much but my son got to carve his first pumpkin because of that person's kindness. A pumpkin isn't a Christmas tree but for a child who loves Halloween...it was amazing. Pass on the kindness if you can.

When I was a kid my parents had the older brothers go out and get a real fir tree. It was bent over at the top it was so tall. Wonderful tree with all home made decorations. We had bottle milk those days which had all different coloured xmas designs in foil. We used to make them into decorations. Paper chains etc. No buying rubbish deco's those days. We had so much fun making them too. I was one of seven.

That is just very selfish, to give something just to feel good about oneself. The guy preaching to the kid basically paid for the tree so he can plant his ego to the little girl’s impressionable mind. Real Kindness is Generous, it gives without taking back or giving conditions. Good thing, the whole thing is fake. But the poor who love this show will copy these selfish acts.

This is so simple. I'd give them $100 and tell the parents to purchase a good Xmas dinner instead. Most people need to learn to budget . We didn't even have trees at times and use Garland's and made a shape of a tree on the wall. The most important thing you can teach your children is teaching them not to spend more than you can afford and to make due with what you have. But it is nice to see people have a heart.

Temujin Khan Yeah because spending 100 dollars on one meal seems like money well spend. They could probably have a week of normal meals for 100 dollars, but sure let's spend it on ONE dinner. Btw the kids would love the Xmas tree for the entire holiday season, so if would be much better spend there. Why punish the kids because their parents dont earn enough? Damn you're salty af.

Indeed, we have Diwali in India for Hindus like Christmas in West, when we could not afford things, we were taught lesson to hold pride in whatever you can afford, make the best of it, enjoy and be greatful, because the real essence of festivals is to learn to be greatful.And there is someone more needy who cannot afford food even,and since we get atleast a home, food and clothes we should be greatful and not cry all round in the world how unlucky we are. And we should only ask for help when it is really very necessary, else try to make it on our own as best we can.People who start feeling ashamed looking at others things better than theirs, will in future face self-esteem issues is what my mother said.

I remember years ago when I was a little girl we didn't have money for Christmas. I beleive my parents would get me toys from the 99¢ store they would get what they could. We couldn't afford a tree and couldn't get a fake tree because the money we did have we had to use to pay the room we were renting. I have this memory of my dad, he used some Christmas lights we already had and he stapled the lights on our living room wall in the shape of a Christmas tree and that's what we used as a tree that year.🥺

When I was a kid, we had a plastic Christmas tree that we build together whenever it’s Christmas season. Then when I turned 8 until I grew older , we just stopped building the tree. And now, I’m 19. I know the tree is really special during Christmas times, but what I realized as I grew older, it’s not about the tree anymore. It’s about the love you get from people around you.

My old boyfriend (who is still my best friend to this day) grew up as a Jehovah's Witness so he was never allowed to celebrate holidays and he felt really left out around Christmas time as a kid. Now, as an ex-JW adult, he wanted so badly to have a Christmas tree for the first time and said "Let's get one!" I told him fresh trees are so annoying and wasteful. They're heavy, you have to drag them into your home and they leave stuff all over the floor and then you have to get rid of them so let's just get a fake one. When I saw his face fall, I immediately regretted dismissing his idea. I had a Christmas tree every year, from huge 12 foot trees when our family would all celebrate together in one house, to tiny 2 foot trees when it was just my mom and me in our apartment. So, as a special surprise, I went out and bought my boyfriend a Christmas tree on my own and carried the darn thing on my back up a flight of stairs to our apartment, and he was so happy! We got to decorate it together on our first Christmas and now that he's my best friend, we still look back on that event fondly. Except... Then it left a bunch of needles all over the floor and it was a pain to drag it out and throw it out. After all that he said, "Yeah, you're right. Real trees are annoying. Let's get a fake one next year."

I was around 5 and my mother couldn't afford a simple small tree and so this lady came up and bought it for us I am a lot older now lol but I will never forget her she was so sweet and made my day and so many others. Mother and I come long way since then. One thing I regret is not getting her name or anything so I can repay her for her kindness.

This says a lot about the consumerist society we live in. A tree is not an essential. How about people who have no home or no water or food? If I saw this I might feel a bit sad but I went a few years without a tree and it didn't harm me. There is such happiness to be found in appreciating what you do have.

I've seen the ripple effect or should I say I've seen a triple effect by helping one person I've seen someone help other's and was told it followed suit all day. 1 moment of kindness from my heart helped people all day and I did it 3 days in a row ! That dad was just amazing.... people being so giving and god bless them all... that woman that lost her husband, absolutely heartbreaking but loving that she said her husband would want to pay for that tree for the family. If I was in this situation and witnessed this, I would also buy the tree. No family should go without a Christmas tree. I too would also give what I could to help pay for them to have a nice Christmas. I see this all the time in my career.
