He wanted to preserve his image, and the thought of abandoning the people who loved him was enough to make him discard divorce as an escape route. He couldn’t bear the thought of them thinking of him as a bad person. How sad. The poor guy was stuck and didn't have any other answer, and nobody he trusted enough to provide him with counsel. @@Oliviaandtrina its due to the fact that he is a child/teen stuck in a 40 year old man's body. He fantasize about his dream that he couldn't achieve when he was a kid, so when he's faced with adult's problems and financial problems, he blames it on his family and his situation but never himself. This clearly points to narcissistic personality disorder to a psychotic level because he never seeks out treatment (most likely never realized he's mentally unstable and thought he was sane and making sense) and resorted to HIS own solution to the problem by thinking that HE is in the right and no one else can tell him otherwise. This is an extremely dangerous behavior that even the hints of it needs to be addressed and looked at right away. He doesn't even view his daughter as his own child at that point, he ACCEPTED and came to peace with his mind that killing his child is no big deal. Proves how insane and evil he really is.

Exactly, if he wanted to disappear he could simply try that, and he could still try his criminal life of living robbing pharmacies and banks by returning to his little hole in the woods. There's no financial commitment if you disappear, and I'm sure if you get caught the consequences are lower than be prosecuted for murder, heck there is a possibility that even your family will prefer to forgive you. He wanted to kill them. He wanted the experience of doing it, of knowing how far he could go with his little hole separated from society, I have no doubt about it. Whatever he says to justify himself, money, not wanting a divorce, etc., they are lies to shield himself, he wanted to kill them.

People that think about killing or dying often know that they are fucked up. They just don't know why and how to stop. Maybe because they are depressed, have a lack of empathy or a other problem that causes that they don't value life as much as healthy humans do.

As someone with severe treatment-resistant depression, some of his comments really strike a chord with me. "Wasn't interested in anything anymore, couldn't motivate myself." "I've come to terms with what I am." "I've tried, I always keep going back to the same person I am." And as a mother myself, I've had those awful intrusive thoughts about just leaving my family when things get tough. But to kill his family, to kill his own daughter... it's a chilling look at what my condition could be. I'd absolutely never let it do this to me. I'd never let it make me want to hurt my own child. Seeing Lynette's videos alongside his own vlogs is especially sad. What he saw as a drain on his finances, she saw as him graciously giving her money to buy a few supplies for the hobby she loved. While filming her videos where she received gifts she made sure to be quiet to not wake him, but he considered it "necessary" to kill her. It's so sad. She was completely blindsided.

As ironic as it sounds, I think it makes some sense to me. I don't really think it's about the financial pressures as it is about his resentment for life and resentment towards his wife and adult daughter, his "family life". He seems to have been hopeless and resentful towards people for a large portion of his life. He was selfish and cowardly so stealing for himself and putting himself in that position wouldn't be the same pressures as other people "putting" him there. and I say that with some sarcasm since he worded it that way but, no one can force you into a position if you have options to leave/change. What a miserable man.

I think it makes logical sense. He’s been wanting to build and live in a bunker away from people since a child. This isn’t mental illness, it’s a product of what happens when you try to socialize a psychopath. They don’t want to be around people, and so he finally chose to do what his heart truly wanted. Killing wasn’t what he wanted to do, but it was what he had to do in order to fulfill his dream. This is a mere result of socialization and social pressure on introverted individuals who truly in their heart want to be alone. People who think society is perfect live with entitlement. Peter complained of not having any money, but he had a house and withdrew from the bank much more than the average American has in checking or savings. Life is a lot about perspective, and Peter simply didn't see the wonderful things he had going for him, and for whatever reason could only see negatives. Thats the Thing with Depression. Perspective as you mention it, can be very distorted. At some point i assume he wasnt strong enough to get divorced for example, because the initial talk to his wife would be impossibly hard to face for someone who is that depressed. Making his final decisions easier to accomplish. I wish more people knew the trivial fact that depression has a huge bandwith of All sorts of mental distortion phases or states where anything can go through their minds. People who say they are also depressed but would never do anything he did, just dont have the same illness. Depression as a term is not specific enough on its own. @@pinkpugginzI said the same thing! When I was depressed I don't even want to get out of my bed or meet other people. But this guy was being so productive with his bunker and video vlog. He's just a Psychopath with a very sick motivation

Edit- how in the fuck did this get so many likes lol The worst part is he didn't even need to kill his family. He could have just went out for "milk" and never came back. He easily could have lived in the woods without needing to murder. So strange, hard to imagine how people come to the conclusion that murder is a good idea.

But then he would always have that Idea that his family would be looking for hom, searching him, worrying about him. From my perspective, he wanted to be "forgotten" by the world, and having people constantly thinking of him wouldnt do It.

They were saying what Peter had thought, not agreeing with his actions or thoughts. Peter wanted to kill them so he wouldn’t feel like he abandoned them, so to him killing them was the only option. No one agrees with what he did but it’s his train of thought

Very surprised to hear such calm and intricate planning. I can’t understand it, but he’s well aware it’s wrong. So sad his delusional perspectives include killing innocent women. Thanks for posting. Very interesting.
