My aunt is a forestry botanist. If she knows that she'll be out in a poison oak area, she'll put lemon dish soap on her skin to help prevent getting it. When she gets home, she takes a cool shower to wash the oils and soap off. She swears it works great.

Imo, When doing hikes like this it would be worth it to have on you a two or three heavy duty plastic containers with lids one or two liter size. At time stamp 9:00 in the video as one example it would be worth taking small samples in those crevices using the small containers. You can pan them at home or at river both. The river ran that high thousands of years ago and being in places other don't normally go can make for some cool surprises. You can also keep an eye out for smaller round river rocks an indication of the gravel bars formed those many years back. I know of several high bars/bedrock like that around here ( Oregon) 400-900 feet above current river level which show good gold. Best showing for me on a "higher bar" was right at 1/16th of an ounce ( or just under 2 grams) from 2-3 gallon of dirt moved. It is out there...

I am pretty sure that you know what you are doing when it comes to this kind of country, however it wouldn't be a bad idea to maybe in whatever gear that you carry, wherever you carry it, that maybe you put a snake bite kit and some bear spray in there to fend off mountain lions and bears, bobcats too, as they can become what my uncle used to call them (evil little weed eaters) when they're upset... After all, we may not know you personally but you do mean quite a lot to a great deal of people... I know that I myself was terrified for you, watching you trek across that steep terrain... Always remember, you can't have fun if you are nursing broken bones, or running for your life from some huge predator! Okay, enough said...
