Staying calm and quiet until assistance came was the right thing to do if he had broken that window then the guy would know where he was and could just put rounds through the wall in his direction. Yall when something startles you when you’re driving or you hear something loud your first instinct is to tense up and hit the brakes. She stalled out so instead of her being stopped and trying to start it back up, she chose to get down. Was this stupid? Yes. But she was scared and just trying to not get shot 🙃 she wasn’t trying to “insert herself into the situation” as someone else suggested.

And they basically tried to get the neighbor killed as well -- they were safe as long as they were in their own house, but taking them OUTSIDE and getting them in a car etc puts everyone in danger. I think the cops did everything they could to make this worse.

That cop just blasting away at the house is ridiculous too. Seconds later he's on the radio saying he doesn't have eyes on, so he's just firing blindly at the house. No idea if there are innocent bystanders in the property (they later find out he also has an adult son who lives with him) and could have easily hit his colleague standing in the porch. I know it's easy to criticise split-second decisions, but the point is this wasn't a split-second decision, he got behind a car and peeked out several times to fire blindly towards the house. Then his next bright idea is to "lay down fire," as if the other officer's only escape route isn't right through the fire he's going to be laying down. Just dumb. Luckily the other officer stuck on the porch seemed to have more sense.

He knew he was there. Cops are trained for this sort of thing, but it's not exactly like we're living in a country where this is an everyday thing for these specific officers. Forgive them if they have have human flaws like the rest of us, and aren't 100% ready for something they didn't think they'd have to deal with that day, especially since they were under the impression this guy had no firearms to begin with. to be 'fair' there were also several cops using that car as cover, they might not wanted to risk her backing into it, possibly making a loud noise and triggering the suspect thinking it was a gunshot, or backing into the car and having it backslide into the cops. yea they overreacted a bit, but it wasnt completely unreasonable

Police departments hire based on intelligence. Infact they specifically pick people who are less intelligent.. you can actually be too intelligent to be a cop and you'll be denied the job.

He was asking how it works against gun fire. There are different levels of ballistic shields. That one was a level 4 shield meaning it could stop a hand gun as well as armor piercing rounds from a rifle . Body armor comes in various levels and when he asked how's it work he wanted to know can it protect us

He seemed like the best, most well-trained cop on scene, and he was stuck on that porch. It felt like amateur hour with most of the other guys on scene, like they were volunteers or something.

Reminds me of the cop that took out the mall shooter... I can't remember where it was but he had just been talking to a little kid in the parking lot saying "make sure you always buckle up" and then you hear gunshots and within seconds he is walking straight toward the shots with rifle in hand.
