2 things. Firstly. Masterful video. I really really like it. The pacing as a beautiful tempo to it, not spitballing information, rather letting us contimplate each word. The visual aesthetic very much so compliments twenty one pilots's vibe, (including the sound design). And the script is neat and efficient. You've got my sub hands down. And honestly, I'd love to talk about making a TOP themed video together. Secondly. Scaled and icy is a funny album. You're definatley right using the word "different" over "bad". No one tried to make something bad. Like, really ever. Even someone who purposefully makes something "bad" is usually to gain some positive reaction such as laughter. At it's worst its a Schadenfreude type thing. As someone who never got into SAI, i can comfortably say i dont like it. HOWEVER, i can recognise and appreciate the art of it. It is still an artistic marvel with alot of thought put into it. It's just not my vibe. And thats fine. I'd be selfish to assume everything has to abide by my specific taste.

We went from songs like Levitate where the production and rapping was phenomenal, like Tyler was literally mixed into the beat he rode it so well, to stuff like mr bounceman, it's just sad seeing wasted potential

There is an introspection and light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel to a lot of Twenty One Pilots' music that as missing from Scaled and Icy. That doesn't mean it's bad art or anything. It feels like positivity for positivity's sake which misses the depth their other music holds. Light feels brightest when putting something dark next to it. That's what makes the hope so much more powerful.

Unpopular opinion. I think Scaled and Icy really is a fine album. It's supposed to be different. It was a perfect time storywise for them to experiment with the sound. I didn't like SaI at first myself. But if you listen to the album it really has great songs on it like Choker, No Chances, The Outside, Mulberry Street or Redecorate. That album still has a TOP unique imprint to it. Its problem lies at the core. You need to follow the story to comprehend why Scaled and Icy is the way it is. Unfortunately we live in a fast-food entertainment reality and people simply just don't care about this story. After listening to Clancy I feel like Scaled and Icy is a stronger album in terms of everything. So I think SaI will always be underrated because of its bright theme even though in reality it's a decent record.

Great points! I really love Mulberry Street and SAI gave a lot of us something to listen to when going through the pandemic. And the livestream experience was such a treat! For Clancy, I think we should wait since it seems like it's not the end yet ✨

It sounds fun and bright but the themes were always. Maybe sometimes our expectations changes our views to things. And also, on a technical perspective, there's a limitation of creating something sometime during the pandemic

Agreed. Honestly I love it more than Clancy because Clancy is just a "normal" album. Scaled and icy, on the other hand, was made in an alternate reality that we all experienced (the pandemic). It's a one of a kind record.

As always, the editing on this video is PHENOMENAL! And I really love the introspective breakdown on tøp's approach to the concepts of fame and success, a linear theme we've seen throughout albums (lane boy, levitate, and then backslide + the craving in response to SAI). Can't wait to see what you cook up next dude!

This was probably one of their most important albums at that time. During the time the world was falling apart, they released something that was the opposite of what they usually sound like to a more happier sound. This to me was showing that Tyler was now a father and he didn’t want to just write the same sad Thing over and over and over again. If you listen to the album you can really hear play out how his life has changed drastically from Tench to something that is more upbeat and happier and lighter. If you go back to one of the biggest songs off of trench, neon gravestones, it shows how in an alternate universe, I feel personally that Tyler would not be here. However we are lucky to have him here. scaled and icy brought out the better side of them and showed that you don’t have to volunteer depression. But if you listen to the very end, it has one of their most important songs, which is redecorate, which you will always struggle with depression. To me this album was right on power with what should have come after Tench and scaled and icy was a masterpiece and itself and its own right.

Awesome video! Just to be clear, I have a bias for SAI because it's the era during which I became a TOP fan. But I think it's a great album. Even though I don't like every song on it, the ones I do like make up for it (Never Take It, No Chances, Good Day, and Mulberry Street especially.) I don't think artists should be confined to only one genre or sound. Yes, I know most listeners wouldn't stay for very long if the sound keeps changing for their favorite bands, but I would kill to hear some bands try different sounds. I'm glad they made the album, tried a new sound and got the experience from it so they can continue to make great music in the future.

TOP is a band of contrasts, its always been. They had some fun songs before Trench, and I think that the Clancy Is Dead album condeses that quirkiness perfectly, with just the right amount of spicy here and there. Also is not as long as the others, so I always felt it as a transition album, a break from the previous storm to head into the next one. But it just happens that often we value more what's on both sides of the valley, and not as much the bridge we just used to get to the other side.

i typically write SAI off as a lore album, in addition to the boys showing their growth as artists. it's not like the darker undertones were completely ommited, they were just shown differently and idk why people couldn't pick up on that

I love SAI now and its easily my #3 (honestly Clancy and Trench are kinda tied for #1 so maybe SAI is my #2) It came out at a bad time for me, dealing with the loss of my sister and then struggling with undiagnosed PTSD and anxiety all the way until this year. This year tho. Man. This year has been so good to me with life experiences and I truly think their music finds you when you need it. So I've been able to listen to SAI and enjoy the upbeat tone of it. Redecorate still hits a little hard, because it reminds me of my sister and how she didn't have a permanent room we could go back to because she was constantly on the move. I'll gladly love SAI

I remember being a die hard top fan but honestly I stopped listening to them around the times trench came out. Going for different styles as an artist is fine and experimenting is very important, you can't be stuck in the same thing for years. but at the same time you can't expect people to like everything you do just because they liked your other stuff. The new albums attract a wildly different audience than self-titled, RAB or vessel did and it takes time for the new audience to gather. That doesn't mean it's a flop. but also I won't be listening to it
