@@historia9275 The only time I’ve had strong spiritual feelings is when I was in LDS churches. I’ve been to others and never had the same feelings. I have doubts about LDS, but religion in general. But if LDS is wrong why the feelings? Will God really send people to hell who got it wrong? And got it wrong because they were tricked or such? How can he be forgiven? The LDS still follow Jesus and their family structures amazing.

My gosh- I’m 54 and I STILL remember when a girl in my Young Women group said “I’ve been praying to know if the church is really true and I haven’t gotten an answer yet, but I know that I don’t feel more loved than I do when I’m at church.” That was 40 or so years ago!! I’ve heard MANY young adults and youth especially say something similar over all the years since then and I’ve lived in 12 different wards in 5 different states. This man either doesn’t LISTEN when people are bearing their testimonies, or he rarely went to church and is basing his statement on very poor attendance.

I love how you try to use your authority bias by saying, “I know more bc I’ve gone to more wards and church than you” It doesn’t matter if they attended 50% less than you did you can’t deminish someone else’s experience just bc yours was different. Don’t work like that sorry.
@tracykeeney8543
@tracykeeney8543 Жыл бұрын
@@Semiautoautomatic_shaman If I’m using my “Authority bias” then he’s using his “ignorance bias” or his “inexperience bias”. His whole premise in this clip is that you’re not allowed, or that you get criticized, or people would “raise their eyebrows” if anyone expressed any doubt in a testimony. The only way any one could come to that kind of conclusion is if they didn’t attend very often or they weren’t paying attention. ****HE’S***** drawing a conclusion that’s INCORRECT based on HIS bias. What he’s saying couldn’t happen, actually happens frequently. Just because HE hasn’t seen it (which is actually highly unlikely unless he wasn’t really listening and just missed it) doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. Yet he’s CLAIMING it couldn’t. The truth is, is that it happens FREQUENTLY. In YSA wards it happens at almost every single Fast & Testimony meeting and that’s not an exaggeration. It would be like him saying “No one hits home runs in MLB baseball games- I’ve never seen it”, And then me saying, “I’ve been going to MLB baseball games for 40 + years and there’s usually at least 3 or 4 home runs a game” and you criticizing me for “diminishing his experience”. Home runs happen at MLB games so often it would near to impossible to be a faithful attender and never see one. His CONCLUSION based in “his experience” would be an INCORRECT conclusion. I’m simply stating that his conclusion about not being able to express doubt in a testimony meeting, based on either his LACK of experience or his lack of attentiveness, is wrong.

In my YSA ward, someone bore their testimony for several months in a row. It wasn't until the third or fourth time that he explicitly said he didn't know that the church was true, and was bearing his testimony because he'd been told that we find our testimony in the bearing of it. I then realized how strange and unhealthy it was to tell people to express complete belief in something that they didn't believe. For the record, this happened in 2019 and was the first time I'd heard it in sacrament meeting (though I did hear people expressing that they weren't 100% sure in classes and lessons). Anyway, I think the younger generations (YSA and youth) are more honest and authentic, open to expressing things like this. However, you have to admit that the youth are also leaving the church at unprecedented rates.

I think the young man just needed someone to sit with him and help him recognize the spirit in his life, the events where he's received answers and witnesses, and that his hope was based on something. It's becoming more and more difficult for people to hear the spirit through all the noise and confusion in this world. The spirit is still speaking, but it's being lost in all the other voices in our heads, and the constant doubt people are spreading.

@holladaytimes
@holladaytimes 11 ай бұрын
@@sarahsabino7279 Sacrament meeting is the regular Sunday meeting. The congregation meets with everyone for about an hour - starts with a song and prayer, then sacrament (eat blessed bread and drink blessed water). Usually there are speakers who give 10-20 minute talks on a subject assigned to them, but once a month, it's basically an open-mic (as long as you're talking about spiritual things and keeping things under 10 minutes). End with a song and prayer. Then off to classes for another hour.

In Mormonism Jesus is the literal offspring of God The Father and his mother who is also a spirit brother of Satan. They also believe that Jesus is a separate god from The Father and that there are an infinite regress of gods before God the father that all used to be human on a planet but became exalted to become gods of their own planet. Someone believed he was inspired by "God" to write down his inspiration. Is it true? Who knows. Don't forget only a few people, men, were scribes, and could read and write. There was a lot of competition to tell the best story, as I understand it. If what I've heard is true, the scribes worked for the kings and queens. When did 'they' get the writings together as a book? I'd like to know the whole history of it all.

first, if this was a big point or win for yall its a horrible win. Second, if one did say that in a fast and testimony meeting eyebrows would be raised, every mormon know this reguardless if its said a million times or once!

Not only did it happen but it's in the Scriptures. D&C 46 3 Nevertheless ye are commanded never to acast any one out from your public bmeetings, which are held before the world. 4 Ye are also commanded not to cast any one who belongeth to the church out of your sacrament meetings; nevertheless, if any have trespassed, let him anot bpartake until he makes reconciliation. 5 And again I say unto you, ye shall not cast any out of your sacrament meetings who are earnestly aseeking the kingdom-I speak this concerning those who are not of the church. 13 To some it is given by the aHoly Ghost to know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that he was crucified for the sins of the world. 14 To others it is given to abelieve on their words, that they also might have eternal life if they continue faithful.

What's wrong with that? It's a great teaching opportunity, because that hope is based on something. What is the hope based on?

I went to testimony meetings for decades and never heard anything but I know the church is true. If that is changing to a more honest hope or belief that’s a good thing. Keep an open mind.

Does not change the fact that no one actually knows if the church is true ....thats where believe comes in .... If it would have proof of its truthfulness believe was not required.... I also never heard it before.... probably a generational differences But the fact i hadn't heard it does not make his statement less problematic ... I also had many eyebrows raised when i claimed something similar.... Wowever ...making assumptions about other ppls thinking and behaviour is lazy ... Also the Christians themselves do the same .... Because in their community doubting the church is acceptable...just because it happens all the time in their community does not make other denominations treat the skeptical the same way as them .... one atheist or one Christian do not speak on behalf of entire community Romans 14:12 "But whoever has doubts is condemned if he eats, because the eating is not from faith. For whatever does not proceed from faith is sin." Does the young Christians doubting their faith know they live in sin ?

I love how confident he feels as he generalizes all members feel this way...then before he realizes it...admits he himself has never seen it he's not facing anyone who is just going to role over and let him just say anything.

Yeah, we don’t fully know it’s true and it’s faith that allows me to believe and hope it’s true. So, if all Christians are wrong and the atheists are right, what did you win as an atheist? …NOTHING. If I’m right though, Heaven will be amazing.

I don't try to tell christians what they believe. I konw you all believe in many many different and contradictory things, and you call each other heretics, apostates, satanists, etc. It's quite a circular firing squad. The fact that you apparently make all of your nonsense up is nothing new.
