I’m a marshal, and we always use James Hunt in Canada as an example to new marshals why you don’t grab or try and handle a driver unless they’re so dazed they’re about to walk onto the track. Their adrenaline is so high they can’t think straight in that moment, so a instant reaction like a punch isn’t uncommon, I’ve personally had some abuse hurled my way when trying to help drivers who’ve just been shunted out of the race 😂😂

Verstappen has matured a lot over the years, there's no way he'd fight unless someone hit first. Russell might get rowdy but he's been well trained by the media (hence the PR63 jokes) so there's a good chance he'll stick to using words instead of his fists. Plus if Verstappen gets into a fight he won't lose much but if Russell gets into a fight he'll get his ass demoted to Clio Cup racing.

Canadian here. Grew up playing hockey. I find it funny when people online refer to the Max-Ocon incident in disgust or disdain, calling Max classless or whatever. In hockey you just take care of business on the ice, then move on. If you're gonna do some reckless shit, you'll pay the price. Self regulating. Max checked Ocon after and Ocon was looking for help. You drive reckless, expect consequences. I laugh at that incident and I'm totally in Max's corner about it. NASCAR has a culture of self regulation too. I just don't think F1 fans and esp the drivers really get what I'm talking about but it's pretty common in most other sports.

Most F1 fans aren't used to seeing drivers fight and brought up on the nonsense of "violence doesn't solve anything," - neither does diplomacy. Ocon was being a dickhead which seems to be a pattern in his career.

@@heliumtrophy Ocon and being a tool for little gain or purpose go hand in hand. I get why he would be like that for racing for position as he barely made it into F1 and could be taken out easily so he is in nice terms a very committed driver but doing it over no points position in back marker where the damage to the car would cost more than you might earn for the positions value for the end of season 0 point teams calculations. Has it helped Ocon's career, not really as his teammates are doing better with Alonso and Checo at better teams and Hulkenberg who he replaced is having a pretty good time at Haas and I would suspect could probably give similar performances in the same car just no podiums as is tradition. He has held on to a seat in the worst team on the grid as unlike Williams, Haas etc they had the money, staff, drivers but couldn't put together any of it whilst Aston Martin has shot up the grid and McClaren have got their ship in order.

I still hold that the greatest brawl in motorsports was the Cale Yarborough vs Donnie and Bobby Allison fight at the 1979 Daytona 500. Pretty much the perfect storyline for a brawl. The leaders crash out early but recover and are battling for the win on the final lap. They tangle and spin out of control. Bobby goes out to check on his brother, and a fight breaks out. All this as the 79 Daytona 500 was the very first to be broadcast from flag to flag on national television, as much of the country is locked inside after a freak snowstorm.

It reminds me of how people see Dale Earnhardt Sr. in NASCAR as this big teddy bear driver that everyone liked... When in fact, the guy had a reputation for being absolutely ruthless on the track, wrecking just about anybody out of his way and not giving a shit lmao. Sure he was talented behind the wheel, and we tend to look more fondly at his career (in a similar fashion to Senna's) since his passing, but back in the day, Earnhardt Sr. garnered fan hate all the way to his home track.

Friendly advice, don't disrespect the people preparing your food and don't punch the person who's job it is to pull you out of a burning vehicle.

A pattern kinda emerged here that many fights are the result of back markers taking people out.

And Ayrton Senna thought long and hard about Nigel's words and realized "yes, he was right," which is something he was given the chance to prove...in Japan...in 1990.

my favorite of all time is of course, courtesy of The Michael on Coulthard, but nothing, and I mean *_nothing_* felt more out-of-place and absolutely hilarious as Russell bonking Bottas at imola in 2021 😂😂😂

Better watch that again mate. Senna was right up against the curb and was well alongside Mansell entering the corner. Not his fault that Mansell chopped him. If you're alongside, it's on the overtaking car to get past cleanly.
