Benzodiazepine* diazepam = valium so you were close lol bennies were benzedrine (mixture of amphetamines - speed) benzo's (like valium was called) - 'mothers little helpers' and it was '2 bennies in the morning, 2 benzos at night' commonly known by dr's as the '2 a day 2 a night' prescribing process.

Anyone tries to give you "leaf", you do not use it! The leaf is no good. Might as well use stalk and twig while you're at it (don't!). It's the flower (buds) that you want to purchase, if you can do so legally. Again, do not smoke the leaf (or twigs). They're not bad, but it can give you a headache, rather than a buzz. Also, don't ever buy pre-milled. The companies sell those with a bunch of leaf and twig in them to make up weight. It's why they're cheaper then whole flower.
